If it can't be pulled back out, it's likely attached correctly. You may need to wiggle it a little bit when pushing it in fully to hear or feel the click. There is a black button you can push and hold "in" to remove the hose and try again. It's on the side of the white plastic piece that the hose clicks into.

If you did not hear the click, it has not gone all the way in. Push more and will definitely hear the loud click.
The insertion is like 2 stages. First it will go in half the way, and you will feel like it is in. Push more, and you will hear the click when it is all the way in.
You can disconnect it by pushing the black button on the side of the quick connect, and try re-connecting it.

Answer:
Yes the faucet does swivel in either direction. This is a great feature because there is no limit to the height of things you could either clean or simply fill with water, i.e. pots, pails or even extra tall vases. This is an extra bonus that most faucets do not have. I use the swivel feature very often and am so glad that I have it. Now I don't know how I have done without it all these years.

Installed on 31.DEC.2013.
Worked perfect for awhile.
Then the flow of hot water gradually became less and less.
Now there is NO hot water flow whatsoever.
No issues with the cold water side.
Also, no issues with the flow of hot water to the dishwasher which is fed from a tee in the same hot water supply line as the faucet.

Could be that a part of a washer in the cutoff valve broke loose and has clogged the hot water line. Are your cutoff valves old? You might try disconnecting the hot water line and inspecting the valve. Though the damage may have been done already. Beyond that you might try removing the faucet and trying to clear the water lines. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

My main concern is that you do not have a dedicated hot water connection to dishwasher or kitchen faucet. Usually, both have separate connections, and not a T connection. Dish washer uses only hot water. Did you have a problem with the old fixture? If so, you may have plumbing issue. If you did not have any problem with the old one,
I have a few questions/suggestions.
1. When do you actually have the problem? Is it when the dishwasher and the faucet running at the same time? If so, it is the T connector issue. Both should not be connected to same line.
2. Check to see if the hot water valve is fully open.
3. Check to see if the hot water line is connected to cold water valve, and cold to hot. If wrongly connected, swap the lines. If the lines were connected correct, turn OFF the cold water line.
4. Now, turn the faucet on. After few seconds check the water . Is it cold?
You should not get cold water.
5. If it is hot, you may have a water mixing problem in the faucet: please call Moen customer service.

If you mean putty under the faucet base then you shouldn't need it unless your counter or sink is not flat or level. If you're referring to plumber "dope" that you put on the pipe connection threads then no, you don't need dope or teflon tape on the connections.

Plumber's putty was not called for in the installation. There is an O ring for the faucet, where it joins the counter top, and also one for the deck plate, if you are using it.
But it does not hurt to use a little bit of plumber's putty to be on the safe side.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 73 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful and easy to install We purchased this to replace a builder grade chrome faucet that had no sprayer of any kind. This faucet is beautiful. Simple but looks very nice. We have a stainless steel sink and this looks perfect with it, so much better than the chrome one that was there. This works very well, great water pressure and spray. This faucet also has a nice arch to it but not too high. Has a nice sturdy feel to it. Of course like almost every spray faucet combo the sprayer is plastic but with this you would never know as it matches the metal perfect. The was one of the easiest faucets that we have ever replaced. They give you step by step instruction but you can also watch a video. They even give you the tool to tighten up the nut. We have a window with a low window sill so needed to find a faucet that would not have a problem and this was perfect. I would highly recommend this not only for beauty and function but also ease of install. August 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best faucet ever made Wonderful design. The heads pulls out easily for washing in hard to reach areas and then glides back into place with ease. There's a toggle under the faucet that switches the flow to a shower and back. The most convenient faucet I've ever used. Excellent quality. I wish I could convert all my faucets in the house. Love it. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is a great faucet! Really easy to install, love the soap dispenser that fills from the top (I did measure how many cups were needed to fill it before installing), the pull out faucet works like a charm, the coating on the outside of the faucet is beautiful and keeps clean so easy.-- well, I just LOVE it and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. December 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Goof Replacement Faucet The nozzle intermittently sticks in the extended position. Manually moving the hose in and out rectifies the problem. June 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Faucet Purchase Easy to install. Great directions. Love the stylish look. June 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Next time I'll measure more carefully. Beautiful faucet, but the water spray shoots over the drain, and splashes. My fault for not measuring the arc and how far it extended from the pre-drilled hole in the granite. Also the retractable arm, doesn't always retract without a little jiggle, no big deal really, I'm just picky. Soap dispenser is the best part! I tried to upload photos but couldn't get them to illustrate what I was talking about. April 27, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Questionable Quality Just installed yesterday! Faucet looks great on our new granite countertops however cheap cheap cheap! Definitely not worth the price. Previous reviews complained about the noise which we have not found it to be any different from any other faucet. We previously had delta pull down faucet I think we paid $89 a few years back which was much sturdier. Unfortunately at Home Depot the faucets are up high on the wall and you cannot test it. I always thought Delta was the lower quality and Moen the higher quality definitely found that not to be true! Going back to Delta! March 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Thing of Beauty in the kitchen! I have been using Moen Faucets for many years, and I love them. It is made of durable materials and they last a long time. Even if they break by wear and tear, I will always get replacement parts free with free shipping, because it has Life time warranty. Moen is one of a rare and the best manufacturers of quality products with best customer care. This Faucet is a high end product with Microban antimicrobial product protection. It is very clean and it resists water and fingerprint spots. The Installation is a breeze, and it took me only 10 minutes to install. The performance is great. See it in action in the attached video. It is a Thing of Beauty in the kitchen! November 29, 2013
