I am a 64 years old lady and I have never done anything like this before but I wanted to try. I bought a very inexpensive laminate floor with very good reviews hence I was able to go for a more expensive underlayment. I saw this one at the store and I decided to go with this one. No other would have worked for me. It does not have a seam tape attached but I bought a mesh one used for sheet rock. Perfect match. I am in the process of buying more of the 40 boxes of laminate that I bought and I will continue with this underlayment. Not need to experiment with others. Very easy to spread it and tape it and I did it without help. Buy a good sharp blade. My no expensive laminate sounds like a high end wood floor, it sounds solid to walk on it. Very happy with the results.

Worked great! One side has tape so when you get one section done you don't have to worry about it sliding. Easy to use!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tina Easy to work with and install
We just completed installing engineered wood floors (HomeLegends) and used the recommended BEST UNDERLAYMENT, it was very easy to install and helped "even out" the little flaws in the cement slab we were installing on. It is comfortable to walk on and seems to block out noise.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KoiAreHappy Orange is the new Blue
I was about to special order MP Global's Quiet Walk when I spotted this. Called them and it is the same thing, only with orange film. It is much like the recycled fiber wall insulation or carpet padding, in a dense 1/8" layer. No nasty smells, no toxic outgassing. It does have antimicrobial protection, called Aegis Microbe Shield, but that adds no detectable odor. Several competing products were so bad even their samples were intolerable.
They say to put the vapor barrier film side up, and leave a large gap around all edges. The thinking is that if water is spilled near the edge of the floor, it will run down to the subfloor and under the vapor barrier - which will protect the finish flooring from the damp fiber. Since I'm doing a bedroom with no water sources, I put the vapor barrier down and extended it over the foam seal at the bottom of the wallboard. The room is now 100% vapor sealed from the ancient wood of the framing and subfloor.
The finish flooring is extra hard strand woven bamboo. The fiber makes a huge reduction in the noise level compared to hard flooring directly on the subfloor - worth the cost!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by SunCityReno I Recommend Eco Cork Instead
I recommend Eco Cork instead of MP Best. We installed a 12 mm laminate over the Best product and were immediately disappointed with the echoic sound. Very cheap sounding. We pulled up the floor and replaced the underlayment with Eco Cork and the difference was dramatic. The hollow sound was replaced with a solid sound. maybe not like real wood but definitely a quality sound. That being said, the MP Best was much easier to install than the Eco Cork.

Installing this product before laying down my new floor made a big difference in my apartment - where the store downstairs plays loud music - cutting down the sound transmission and restoring my sense of privacy. Major improvement.

I rencently purchased this product and was amazed by how much it absorbs sounds and very comfortable to walk on without feeling your actual walking on flooring that I had put down over it. I give the product two thumbs up!!
