Answer:
Depends on the size of the aquarium. I wouldn't use these in a small one. They would need to be washed several times before using.

Answer:
You could use them in an aquarium and they'd be beautiful. But, be aware, the size of these things will make it difficult if you use a siphon gravel cleaner. Also, if one would be inadvertently dropped or roughly knocked against the glass you could end up needing to replace the aquarium and your flooring.

Answer:
You might want to go with the small size for that application. These stones are the large size. I'm talking as big as your hand large. It'd make for one uncomfortable bench, that is, unless you're going for an acupressure bench. How very Zen. Lol

Answer:
My experience is that the stone covers 3ish square feet (not the 6 advertized), so you'll realistically need 4 bags - The stone is even prettier in person but pricey.

Hey there jonnyb,
Each of these bags covers 6 sq. ft. Given that you'll be applying them in a bit of a different way, I would recommend picking up 3 bags to be sure that you have enough coverage.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 26 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Agree with coverage issues Don't expect a lot of coverage, as others have said. I bought these to do my own river rock floor in the mud room. It was small, about 7 long by 4 feet deep-ish. I ended up using six bags to cover the area (all single-laid onto thin set). I had a good bit left over because not all of the rocks were flat enough to be good for flooring, which is fine because that's not what they are bill as. Look nice. I'd call it more of a blackish gray than black, don't expect opal. I've included a photo of the job halfway through, sans grout, so you can see the color. October 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful but pricey Nice surprise of beautiful quartz veining in the black stones. Large, heavy stones range from shooter marble to avocado size. Ordered one bag to verify size. Unfortunately, the price makes using this for my project prohibitive. Used this one bag to cat proof two large potted plumeria. The cats can't move these stones! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by surprisingly great looking river-rocks my landscape design called for a line of river-rocks from the dolphin-fountain to the drain-hole. The river-rocks that I could found in stores are rather dull-looking. I ordered 10 bags of this river-rock, sight-unseen, based on the picture only. I'm quite surprised by how great the rocks look. They have some shine, polished look and varied-size. July 3, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible! This rock came and is covered in some type of tar like substance. It is very sticky and when any type of dust or dirt touches it, the rock acts as a magnet. I purchased these rocks to use in a landscaping project and they actually look brown because of all of the dirt stuck to them. We had to purchase rock from another company and use these as a base for the new rock to cover. Very very disappointed. June 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by all as expected appreciated the free and timely delivery to our house. consistent quality in all bags we received. the smooth stones feel wonderful to step on - as in a outdoor shower - included foot reflexology. June 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great color, not great covereage Most of the rocks were 2+ inches in size, but there were more "large pebbles" than we would have preferred. Color is great, really dark charcoal color. These are not shiny. In my opinion, prepare to buy double the bags for your project- the coverage is pretty misleading. The free shipping is great. June 12, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by oil They were covered in oil. It took 2 days in simple green to remove the oil and grease from the stones. And yes I used them because the store wouldn't take them back, saying that I had done something to them. June 30, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Product was good the seller was not. The stones were as nice as described. Home Depot did not do a good job on hiring the shipping company. Home Depot doesn't have customer service skills. May 27, 2015
