Product Overview

Black granite is a natural stone granite that is an ageless beauty that exudes solidity. With a large selection of sizes and accessories to choose from, black granite can easily be laid in a pattern or single layout. This particular granite is suitable for residential and commercial installations, including kitchens and bathrooms. NOTE: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish, etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer. After installation, vendor disclaims any liabilities.

I also had to order them online by the case. I did not find them in my local stores. I only saw light marble.

Do I HAVE to adhere this chair rail to backer board as a counter top edge?

This question is from Absolute Black 2 in. x 12 in. Polished Granite Rail Molding Wall Tile (10 lin. ft. / case)

I am planning to put the chair rail flush with the granite tile. If it is smooth and level, will it adhere directly to the 3 layers (plywood, backer board, tile edge) or do I have to put a layer of backer board in front of these layers? I am hoping to avoid a gap behind the rear tile! (Counter top will be 24" deep to prevent too much overhang because of the thickness of the chair rail). Thank you!!

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Black Granite Molding Polished on one surface only, these look great from the face. The edges, of course, are unfinished granite, but you can work with and enjoy that. One rail tile out of three cases ( 1 / 30 pieces ) was broken packed in the case after we picked it up packed in foam in good condition from the store. ;( We are using these as trim around a tile mural in a shower, like a window frame. ;) September 27, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Too Funny not to Share So I ordered these pieces online, but I was skeptical of the $5.97 price for a case of 20. But the first detail in the Product Description says 20 pieces to a case. Hmmmm, I better double check on this, let's chat with Home Depot's online customer assistance ( Reference picture below ) Well if Wendell H. is positive than I guess that's $5.97/case. What a deal! Wouldn't you know, when I go pick the case up at the store, they have 1 little piece waiting for me. "But no, this must be wrong. Wendell H. on Home Depot chat double checked and said it was a case" Wendell H. got it wrong. $110 later, I had my case. Epic customer service fail Home Depot. For wasting my time alone, 1 star. The product itself, 2 pieces in the box broken, the rest were fine. September 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great value, looks great with matching tile We got these as an edging for the matching black granite 12x12 tiles for a cheap but nice looking diy countertop replacement. They are a little tricky to figure out how to cut, (we have weird angles on our countertops), but in the end figured it out and they looked great. We ended up using one or two extra with botched cutting, but are also pretty new to tiling. We took the advice of other reviewers and used a heavy duty construction adhesive that specifically listed granite on the tube instead of mortar- tried one or two with mortar and they were slipping a lot. They are very heavy- and did take about 48 hours to fully set up with the adhesive, but now are on there good. Have two people when installing so one can hold it in place and the other can tape them in place so they hold while setting. We used blue painters tape to tape them in place to the counters and it worked fine. Great look overall and not bad for the price (we found similar ones at a tile store for about 3x the price!) Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by product worked out great Product was very easy to cut and install and will look great after grout and polish. December 31, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by New tiles we ordered and just received were different than 1st order We ordered about 30 of these tiles about 5 or 6 weeks ago and they were awesome. We decided to build another counter and ordered 20 more. When we went to install them we noticed the color was different and they were not finished off with a slight bevel like the other 30 we received. The first 30 were made in India and the new order we received were made in China. Fortunately I went online and found that there were tiles in stock at the Home Depot in the next town over. I called and asked them where those tiles were from and fortunately they were from India and matched the others we had already installed. October 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Professional finish to a DIY project. The trim pieces were just like the pictures and description. They added a very nice finish to the job. They transformed a tile countertop into what appeared to be a single slab of granite. It gave the top depth and made it look more substantial. Very pleased with this product. NOTE: the pieces are very heavy and tend to slide, so use construction adhesive and duct tape to place them until they are set. You may have to readjust some of them as they may continue to slide with even when taped. Not a defect, just a result of being so heavy. July 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for the price Combined with the black granite tile from Home Depot, I don't think you can find an overall better deal. These moldings match the tile well and give the counter top a nice rounded look. Although these moldings are expensive, they look way better than cutting tile for a square edge. They give the counter top a nice professional look. May 28, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Third time better be a charm. I ordered 23 of these three times to get quality pieces and matching colors. Colors ranged from gray speckled to absolute black. Many were not polished, and not rounded properly. As for customer service from the supplier (not Home Depot), I can't get them to answer the phone or call back. September 4, 2013
