NOTE: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer. Answer:
Cutting this product is difficult as they are formed from smaller slate sections. These smaller sections tend to separate easily from oneanother.
This product is very thick (compared with ceramic tile) so you will need outlet screws that are very long to allow the outlet and outlet cover to be flush with the California Gold Ledger product.

Our installer cut out the rectangular openings for switches and outlets and used long screws to re-secure the cover plates. It was a little tedious, but can be done.

Answer:
We removed the drywall and replaced it with backerboard. We used the grey Flexbond mortar to attach it. Did not do more than 3ft high at a time as per the recommendations and didn't have any trouble with installation!!

I would remove the sheet rock and put up cement board. The rock is heavy and you don't want it to drop on you while in the shower.

I'm not sure if it would work on a painted surface. It is really heavy. You might need a special morter. I used stone morter.

This product looks like it is made to be used without grout in between the stones - and that's certainly what I prefer (less to clean!). Is that true

This product would be almost impossible to clean, as the surface is made of stones that jut out from each other. The stones are glued together, so they don't require grout.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful product Simply gorgeous! Very easy to install around our front door and entry way. Too bad not all the stores stock this. March 29, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great We ordered extra boxes of material to allow for breakage. This was not a problem for us. Easy to work with, make sure your tile saw has a good blade. May 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wall tile This wall tile its easy to install, when you finish, Lola GREAT!!!!! May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dream Wall I didn't install it myself, so I can't speak to the ease of installation. It took my contractors 2 days to complete it. All I can say it that it looks great, I'm very happy with it. I love the color and the natural look of the stones. Exactly what I had in mind for that wall, complimenting the existing fireplace. October 6, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fireplace surround Good product for a budget minded upgrade. Some variation in size tolerance between boxes. Would recomend for small areas like a fireplace. Error compounds itsef, tricky to adjust. Not a material for a beginner diy homeowner. Nice results for a fair price March 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ledger Panel I replaced the square tile around the fireplace with the panels and it looks great. The panels were easy to cut with the standard tile cutter saw. They are a bit heavy so I had to place a support to hold them in place until the mortar dried. All of the panels fit together great and no one knows where I started and left off so they blend together. I would buy these again. February 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product No issues with quality of product, No broken tiles out of 15 cases, makes a great statement piece in the room, Especially on a full wall or fireplace, but, being natural stone, it is very heavy and difficult to cut at times because of the non- consistent thicknesses. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great look I recently finished my outdoor kitchen and really like the California Gold Ledger Panel. It has a rustic look but also can go with modern accents. The tile is fragile and some boxes had broken pieces, but was simple to return to the store for a refund. Overall it was easy to cut with a good tile saw. Some pieces had glue on the outside which was easy to remove with a utility knife. I used a good polymer fortified thinset for large format tile that is waterproof and meant for the outdoots.Cant beat the price of the tile and I am very happy with the results June 30, 2014
