Product Overview

Chiaro Brick Tumbled Travertine Mosaic Tile has small depressions and crevices within each stone to project a rustic, old-world charm. Predominantly beige and cream, these 12 in. x 12 in. mesh-mounted tiles from MS International exhibit random tone variations and coordinate with nearly any commercial or residential decor theme. They interconnect seamlessly, making large-scale tiling projects look like each brick was laid individually and spaced perfectly. NOTE: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish, etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer. After installation, vendor disclaims any liabilities.

Answer:
I don't know of any reason you couldn't...it's very substantial tile in that it's heavy as well as being unpolished therefore naturally slip resistant....

I would not suggest it, to porius, they will collect a great deal of scum, if you did however seal them a great deal then you will have to use some kind of non-slip final finish

NOT REALLY ADVISABLE, AS THIS STONE IS SEMI POROUS AND WOULD TAKE TO MUCH AWAY FROM IT'S LUSTRE TO SEAL IT DEEP ENOUGH TO ACT AS A WATER BARRIER.
A GOOD CERAMIC TILE PURPOSELY MADE FOR THE USE IN SHOWERS ALONG WITH A GOOD WATERPROOF GROUT WOULD BE MORE ACCEPTABLE IN YOUR PLANNING. EVEN THEN YOU SHOULD INTRODUCE A WATERPROOF BARRIER MATERIAL UNDER THE TILE TO ENSURE NO LEAKAGE TO THE AREAS BELOW AS ONCE

Answer:
....I haven't seen many holes per se....if there are pin holes (which would be about the general size) then the tile adhesive will fill from the back/bottom and perhaps a small amount of grout will go into a small hole on the surface....but this will blend away because of the natural variations in each stone....so it's really not a problem at all....

Then before grout hardens go over the surface dabbing inwards with a stiff bristle paint brush. This ejects a lot of the grout from the groves, but also from the holes in the tile pieces. Having done this to all of my installation the effect is good because it leaves the tile still with a rustic look not quite being grouted right to the surface. Read Less

Thank you for your question. In general the Chiaro Brick 12 in. x 12 in. x 10 mm Tumbled Travertine Mesh-Mounted Mosaic Tile can be used around the fireplace. However it is not recommended for direct contact with high temperatures.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 20 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Looking Tile! I installed this in my kitchen a year ago. A couple months later, I refaced my brick fireplace using this tile. Both turned out awesome. The tiles are porous and some have minor imperfections, which only adds to "the look". One reviewer stated he found different size squares at different stores. I found them to be different shades at another store. I assume it was a different batch. I just mixed them together when installing and it looks great. April 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful backsplash, blends well We have a busy granite countertop (Netuno Bordeaux) and needed a beautiful but understated backsplash that did not compete with the countertop. It was a perfect choice. One note. Finding matching pencil trim was difficult. The match they have is more yellow than the chiaro brick. August 16, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good looking tiles but time consuming My wife picked the tiles for the new backsplash in our kitchen. It had to match the cabinets, granite countertop and floor. Only a women can do that. I had to buy about 45 sq. feet of tile. Most of the other reviews state that it is easy to install. I can not support that. It took me forever to put it up. The one review that only gave one star is right on. The tiles are very different. Different in color and size. They don't stick on the sheet, they are crooked on the sheet. some are broken or have big holes in them. The sheets don't fit together. Some sheets have only dark tiles on it. Some have ohly white tiles on it. What I finally did is pull each 1 x 2 tiles off the sheet and stick in on the wall. The result was very nice and even my wife liked it. I mixed and took tiles from different sheets. I also had to discarded about 300 tile pieces. January 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Travertine tiles Exactly what I was looking for to do a diy project. September 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fabulous tile Used this tile for a kitchen backsplash, along with Antique White grout. I did not install the backsplash but am very happy with the results. It looks fantastic. I sealed the tile before the grout was applied and sealed tile and grout after the grout was applied. Backsplash cleans up quite nicely. September 1, 2015
