The attractive combination of an unglazed, smooth finish, high-gloss sheen and random variations in tone create a stylish complement for a wide variety of design schemes. This tile is constructed from durable marble material and features an impervious water absorption rating. Note: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish, etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer. After installation, vendor disclaims any liabilities.

I was in the store and I opened a box and the tiles had nicks and chips that were apparent, even in the new boxes. The polished surface was marred. I'm worried about using this because I'm concerned about its durability, and how to care for this. I was going to use it in the shower, but I want something that will be beautiful and not nicked and marred.

Thank you for your question. If you have any product that has chips or nicks, it is recommended that the product be returned and reordered. This is a premium marble, but is susceptible to physical damage and wear & tear.

The short answer to this is, "It's marble." Polished marble will NOT retain it's brand-new showroom shine throughout its lifetime. Keeping it up to a reasonable point requires regular maintenance. The short answer to this is, "It's marble." Polished marble will NOT retain it's brand-new showroom shine throughout its lifetime. Keeping it up to a reasonable point requires regular maintenance. As for the surface being nicked...this tile is no more beaten up on purchase than any other marble and onyx tiles I've dealt with in my area. When the tile chips, the damage can usually be repaired with knife-grade epoxy or a purpose-made repair kit.
Granite will generally hold up better under use than marble, and you can really keep up its showroom shine much easier. Marble should be sealed regularly, but no matter what you do, it's going to show wear and tear over time. The condition a marble shower will be in after 40 years is significantly different than what a granite shower will look like.

Answer:
It's going to depend on your specific installation method, I commonly use a 1/4 x 3/8 x 1/4 inch square notch trowel with these tiles.

Yes. Use a good penetrating sealer like Miracle Sealant's Impregnator 511 on it and the grout lines every six months and you'll never have a problem.

When you lay butt-jointed natural stone tile, the typical procedure is to put in a skim coat of mortar (I've also seen it down with thinned unsanded grout painted on with a small paintbrush) on all four sides of the tile. This is not very easy to do and laying butt-jointed natural stone tile over large areas to high standards is one of the dark tiling arts -- the few guys who I know can do it well all have all learned and developed different techniques for doing it and they often don't like to share their techniques.
But after the floor is done, seal the stone and the grout lines with a good penetrating sealer like Impregnator 511 and you'll never have a problem. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by You will love this tileeeeeeeee Easy to clean, look gorgeous on your bathroom. The quality is good. October 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Could pass for much more expensive marble such as carrara white or statuary white First of all: DO NOT ORDER ONLINE AND HAVE IT DELIVERED TO YOUR HOME. Take your time, go to a local home depot and pick up your tile there. Reason: you want your tile to be as consistent as possible. Note: natural stone will always have some sort of variations. Initially, I purchased 12 boxes of this tile and out of all 5 I did not like. They basically were from a completely different lot. I decided to go with more white with grey veins in my tile. Solid white/yelowish I decided to exchange for what I like best. The selection process maybe a little tedious but the final result is worth it. You will not find a cheaper marble tile. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High Quality Tiles in Greys/Whites/Light Browns The variegation of the marble tile colors is muted and natural. We used all Home Depot ordered/bought products for this complete BA redo (expect the mirror and toilet - existing). The wall 3x6 tiles were substantial in weight so we used extra adhesive thinset for them on the shower ceiling that was slanted up. The Home Depot Carrara White 12x24 pieces complemented the 3x6 wall tiles nicely. The HD marble pencil trim and chair rail also worked well. Delivery for over 1000 lbs of ordered materials was only $100, and right inside the garage. Returning extras to the local HD store was a small hiccup--3 times the RTV software (return to vendor) was not working so I got store credit instead of a credit card refund. Other returns for store bought items went without a glitch--but the online returns always took more time, sometimes I got my credit card refunded and this last time, not. Online returns apparently relies on a computer system that has issues. Just beware. May 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful! This stone is absolutely gorgeous. We were struggling between using expensive marble tiles from a local store or going with these and I'm so pleased I went with these! I used only Home Depot tiles and the project came out amazing. These tiles are mainly grey/white but some have khaki in them and darker streaks but real marble has variations. I see other people have complained about that but if you want even colors, go with a fake material not natural stone. This tile made my bathroom look like the Ritz! The size is great for floor tile and we put in a herringbone pattern, just beautiful! January 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Greecian White Marble Tile Be sure to order more than you plan to use since color differences in each box. April 26, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Doesn't Match Description & Images Pay attention to the other negative reviews as the coloring on this tile is far different than shown on the site. The images show white tile with gray veining, actual color of the tile varies greatly between an ivory cream base color with rusty-brown blotches and a little gray-green veining. Not good at all. I purchased the marble mesh small square tile in this same colorways and the two don't match. When I ordered the tile I spoke with HD customer service several times about my request to get the two types of tile with the same lot number and they were unable to honor my request. The customer service person even had the manufacturers warehouse on the line and they wouldn't do it. Lesson learned...you get what you pay for. December 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great This tile looks great. I had the entire bathroom done using this. My wife loves it, so that's all that matters. January 20, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by excellent price, 40% of tiles were bad I bought a pallet of this tile to do 3 bathrooms, and had a professional install them. I had to exchange more than a 1/3 of the boxes to find a consistent look. many of the tiles already had brown rust stains, and the installer said they were so brittle it was difficult to cut the tile to fit around the doorframes. however, in the end the tile looks ok but even the good tiles had vast color variations - some were almost pure white, and others could be granite because they were such a dark gray. I attached a photo, even with a professional the tile looks like it came from two completely different quarries. however, the price is unbeatable for natural stone. I spent maybe 6 hours in the store to examine each tile to avoid the backbreaking chore of returning the ones which are yellow or cracked. December 2, 2015
