We just picked up 30 cases of this tile and my husband noticed on the box it has a warning to avoid using a 50% offset. The salesperson did not inform us of this, if it is in fact an issue. Thank you...

Answer:
Thank you for your question. In general 1/3rd offset pattern is suggested to minimize lip page as per ASTM standards. It is recommended that a professional installer be consulted to check if the herringbone pattern installation result would be satisfactory for this particular installation.

Answer:
I use this tile in many projects, and I always set it in offset patterns.
However, you should understand the reason for the warning about a herringbone pattern.
Ceramic tile is made from clay. When it's fired in a kiln, the clay shrinks and warps slightly. This is especially true for large, cheap tiles like these.

Ceramic tile is made from clay. When it's fired in a kiln, the clay shrinks and warps slightly. This is especially true for large, cheap tiles like these.
Inspect these tiles closely, and you'll notice that they're slightly domed. If you set them in a 50% offset, they'll align in a pattern that makes the curvature especially obvious.
In some applications, this matters. For example, it'd be especially noticeable on a countertop. But on the floor or in a shower, it may not be a concern.
If you're new to setting tile, you should do a trial layout with your tile to see how it looks before you install it with thinset. If the curvature is an issue, consider laying it with a 1/3 offset. I usually do this, and nobody but me ever notices the curvature. Read Less

Answer:
It should be laid with a 1/3 offset, but can be laid in different patterns vertically or horizontally, as long as the offset is followed.

Answer:
Yes, you can use a steam mop on this tile. It's porcelain tile, so it's tough. You can walk on it, you can steam it, you can put it in a shower and get it soaking wet. Pets can p-e-e on it. It won't be harmed.
As a general rule, you can use a steam mop on any ceramic tile, unless it's hand-painted and clearly intended to be decorative only.

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 207 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful tile, color different than appears beautiful tile. Looks great in our kitchen, we originally got the "gray" which is SUPER light in person and returned it for the "black" which is a darker, charcoal color and more what we were looking for. June 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nothing not to like Nothing not to like about this tile except for the cost dropped 2 weeks after i bought it. But oh well even at the old price it was a bargain for the quality of tile. I love the different colors that I can pick up due to the vertical line colors that make up the tile. My contractor was also impressed with the squareness of overall size and ease to lay. He seemed to really like the tile. The photo I'm attaching is obviously unfinished but even without grout it looks great. April 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sleek Modern Tile Great product and looks very high end! Priced right and fairly easy to install by the above average DIY'er. August 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Looking Tile We used this tile in a bathroom in a guest house on the floor and shower - the large tile looks great - very pleased with look/performance. August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home Upgrade Love my new floors! Easy to maintain as well. Replaced tile in entrance, kitchen, nook, two bathrooms, and laundry room. All looks great! March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good tile for the price Tiled a full bath floor in my house with this tile. Great value and bang for your buck. I purchased 3 cases of tile - didn't notice any color variations as others have mentioned. I did pay mind to the color shade on the side of the boxes when purchasing (all mine were marked shade 52). All my cuts (both rip cuts and cross cuts) did not produce any chip out or problems as a few others mentioned. I used a Rubi score and snap tile cutter also available from Home Depot. Durability test - accidentally dropped a tile from waist height onto my concrete garage floor. TIle did not break. (although I didn't use this tile for fear that it might have gotten an unnoticed hairline crack) Found this to be a pretty good test for the strength of these tiles. Although not rectified, I found the tile size in general to be very consistant. I used 3/16" grout lines and pewter colored grout. Home Depot should consider selling the bull nose for this tile in stores. You can order online but I only needed 4 pieces and only cases are available online. I ended up cutting 2 1/2 wide" pieces and made my own base molding with tapered top grout joint to hide the unfinished edge. All in all, time will tell how they hold up now that they're installed. I haven't noticed any staining or cleaning problems as others have in my high traffic bathroom (3 kids) Really like the look and found nothing to complain about. Highly recommend. March 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great! Awesome value! We chose these tile for our first attempt at tiling our small bathroom. (About 30 sq. feet) Both my husband and I loved the look and decided to give it a try. They look great we're easy to install and I feel the price was awesome. The boxes were heavy to lift but we had no trouble with breakage. We only bought two boxes so we did not see any trouble with color variance. We have gotten a lot of compliments on how great they look. People think they look like expensive tile. My husband did the cutting and I did the laying and grouting. We are so pleased with hoe easy they were to work with and how they turned out. If ordering online(we bought ours in store) The color is grey with tan. We used grey grout. December 8, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice but chips easily. This tile looks great IF you don't use a wet saw. It chips easily but for the price with a little extra care and use of a tile cutter you can't go wrong. July 24, 2016
