This split face travertine tile is a good tile to work with and install. However, beware that this is very porus and very delicate. Also grouting is not recommended between the tile pieces. Grouting is recommended around the trim and against any countertop. Beware you should NOT use these tiles behind stove or in shower for the porus factor. Grease or soap splattered on it will not come off. Water will soak into the tile as well so it is not recommended for wet locations. You can seal it but due to the many microscopic holes and some larger holes water will accumulate in those. Good tile to use around a bar or as accent pieces. Make sure you check your tiles as many come in broken. These are tiny tiles and can be replaced individually if some are broken but can be a pain to release from the matting. Some negative items are quality control.. some tiles sheets had very little glue and very floppy. These also tended to "release" the tiles from the matting when working with them. Some sheets had too much glue and some glue even went between the tiles gluing the stones together. This made cutting them difficult as I only needed rows of 4 high. Also on these there was so much glue the glue had to be cut off where they would inter join other tiles. I used this tile with ivory pencil trim pieces around a rather large counter as a 4 1/2 in back splash. Was good for this purpose and matched cabinet and quartz counter top beautifully. I used HD simpleset white premixed thinset to install them on standard sheetrock that was painted. I used 60 grit to lightly sand the paint and rough the sheetrock prior to installing. (didn't have 80 but you can use either) I will use ivory or bone color unsanded grout to seal around bottom and edges where the tile meets wall or counter. I did not seal this as the sealer tends to "shiny" the tile.. we liked the "unshiny" rough look. Water splashing on them is not a issue around our sink as we have a farmers apron sink and it is far enough away not to get splashed. Good tile, average ease of installation, poor manufacturing and consistancy of adhearing the matting to the stone. Cutting these requires placing them on a board like 2x6 to hold them flat and steady when trimming smaller areas. Trimming around outlets or other objects can be a pain if you have to use smaller pieces. Also some of the faces of tile are so varied in thickness makes them difficult to get a outlet face plate to fit somewhat flush without the plate looking all cockeyed.. they are what they are.

These tiles look great. They were pretty easy to use. Only problem I ran into was, some of the 12x12 sheets weren't glued very good on the back side. Other than that, We used these tiles all over our basement. Really loved the look. We wrapped the bar corners, a post, door and window. Looks great!

The only thing that could be and issue is when you cutting. If it get wed, the adhesive under mosaic wall tile start peel off but is really easy to put back again. I love it

The stone has a "warm" feeling and complements my cabinets and counter top. The random pattern made it very easy to install, with little waste.

Installer had a horrible time because they would fall of the mesh backing!!!! But, being a professional he said he would make it work...but that was extra time that we had to pay him....so we aren't happy with the product!!

Initially I was very excited to get these. However during installation I found out the hard way that from one sheet to other it does not line up properly. Most of them will have gaps and as big as 1/16", 1/8". These are designed so that you can't use grout. The gaps will totally ruin the look you want to achieve. Poor quality cut, Even within the same sheet, you might find undesirable gaps. If there were no gaps, these would have been fantastic. I used a professional installer, who painstakingly tried every possible way to mend the gaps. Still the end result was not what one would expect. Very disappointed. What a waste of money and time. I am debating whether to remove these and use different tiles. I would not recommend.
