M S International Multi Color 12 in. x 12 in. Slate Floor and Wall Tile features distinct shades and tones creating a varied pattern for a rustic appeal with a low sheen finish to complement any interior setting. The tile can be used for wall, floor or countertop tiling schemes and offers a skid-resistant design suitable for heavy-duty residential or commercial flooring in high-traffic areas, such as a hallways, shopping malls and commercial kitchen. Use matching trim tile or a combination of field tile for the design that best suits your space and preferences. NOTE: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish, etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer. After installation, vendor disclaims any liabilities.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful but a little difficult to install. I've been working with this slate for the past 7 or 8 years. This is pretty good slate - especially considering the price. Most of the slate is 1/4" inch thick, but some of the pieces are thicker and some are thinner. This can make installation a challenge. When I'm installing a floor, I will go through all of the boxes that I've bought and separate the best pieces that are closest to the nominal 1/4" thickness. I will return any tiles that are crack or damaged. I either set aside the very thin and thick tiles for other projects (wall or ceiling installations) or I will return them to the store with the damaged pieces. Other people do this also because you will see tiles at the store wrapped in plastic straps. These were returned tiles. New tiles are always boxed. Also, each tile is not exactly 12" x 12". This can cause grout line variances. Not a huge issue, but sometimes I will cut the tiles down to 11.5" x 11.5" exactly so that the grout lines are perfect. It's easiest to do this with 10" tile saw to do this. That's going over the top but I thought I would pass on that tip. I like to apply a sealer when I'm done with the installation. This gives the tile a very nice sheen and also darkens the tiles just a bit. Also, try use a "dressing stone" to smooth the tops edges of the tile before you install the tiles. This makes it easier on the feet if your grout isn't flush with the top of the tile. Slate tile is a bit more difficult to install compared to ceramic, but I think that the effort is worth it. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful but tricky to install... I laid 400 sq. ft. of this tile in an older home. It really helps to mask the imperfections of older homes and uneven floors. However, the uneven surface and thickness makes it extremely difficult to grout and to lay. I am an amateur and this was my 2nd do-it-yourself tile project. If you are artistic and have a good eye for patterning, this tile is excellent and can provide a unique floor that will "wow" your guests... Since the first project using this tile, I have used it on 2 more occasions and will be using it to tile the kitchen in my 1895 farm house. July 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product for the proce I used this tile for a sunroom and outdoor patio. Love the rough texture (but not rough on feet). Varied colors add to the great look. Excellent tile for the money August 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I wanted This is a stone and exactly what I needed for my den where my fireplace is. Looks beautiful when the light hits it. Had it put in, so not real sure if it was difficult to install. Love it though. August 1, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great but lots of breakage I purchased this for a fireplace surround project. I first picked up one box for customer approval. Of the 5 tiles included, 2 where cracked. Knowing this, I picked up 120 tiles for an area of 80 sq ft. I'm glad I did because I needed every extra tile I purchased. Outside of the damaged tiles, the product has a great look and worked out great. October 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst tile I have ever purchased I have worked in construction for 30 yrs. and this is the worst tile i have ever tried to use. I purchased 10 boxes for a small project. After opening 3 boxes I had to return all of it and purchase it some where else. The tiles varied in width by up to 3/16" and the tiles where out of square by up to 3/16" by the time i had put down a 4 foot run my grout lines where off by 3/8 of an inch or more, not good when your dealing with only 1/4" grout lines. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by multi color tile I really like the look of these tiles; however, they are not practical. They are built with layers of thin 'paper-like' compressed material that can come off. The surface is not flat so shoes can get caught on them. Also the tiles are of different thickness so installation is extrememly difficult. Avoid if you can. June 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just one piece So the picture makes it seem like 3 rows of 4x4 slate pieces, but is actually just one solid 12x12 piece. still nice, but i need 4 in. May 8, 2014
