Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by THunt Fantastic product for experienced handlers
The 16" tiles come crated and have a chance of mishandling by the makers up and until its loaded onto your trailer. I experience 45 broken tiles from 6 crates over the past 4 years. Home Depot was kind enough to replace the broken tiles and due to the extra handling they let me keep the broken tile. It can be used for many projects by being cut with a tile saw to desired size. The travertine is a softer stone than the ceramics and porcelain so the blade use is minimal. I agree with the full coat on the back filling the voids during install due to the natural stone experiencing holes and cracks later but as long as you maintain your floor with grouting and sealing maintenance over the years it will last forever. The uncoupling pad is recommended in many situations due to the natural stone characteristic.
If you find complaints regarding breakage or mismatched colors its just ignorance on their part. You get what you pay for and the install is most important for longevity.

Using this tile for our shower walls in two bathrooms.
Tremendous value. 16" Travertine delivered for $2.75 a sq foot is an incredible price for a quality tile.
Many tiles have more fill than I would like. buying it by the pallet makes it easier to select the better pieces where a whole tile is going in. The pieces with more fill can be used for the edges where the filled portions can be cut away as waste.
Professional installation recommended. My tile guy needed a lot of specialized tools and a practiced hand to work with this stuff.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DBP Great deal for Travertine !!!
The next city over has many tile retailers. They tend to offer good deals because they buy in bulk and often have discontinued items. When I saw this travertine on HD website, I couldn't believe the price. It is actually the shade and size we were seeking and was cheaper than the local tile retailers. I ordered five pallets to cover my entire first floor. I unpacked one pallet already and only discovered a few broken pieces. I have four more pallets left and expect the same amount. No big deal because Travertine does crack. I have installed ten pieces and it looks really good. The company which HD contracted for delivery in my area was very professional. The driver assisted me by putting the pallets in my garage. Thanks Home Depot !!!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Anzura Very nice for the price!
Purchased 5 crates, have used about 2.5 so far. Very few broken tiles. We started a reject pile for the tiles that are just too dark or the pattern is too crazy. We might be able to use them in on other room. Possibly about 20 tiles so far that we rejected.
We have done the install ourselves. It's not a simple task by any means. Most of the tiles have to be back buttered or they will crack later on.
After grouting and sealing the room looks amazing! We love it! The picture im attaching is before sealing.

If your looking for a pallet of tile that all look the same, forget it, not for this deal. But that's what makes it beautiful. Its natural stone, your gonna have variations. I had only 2 cracked tiles. I had thus far another 2 break on me. My pallet had about 5-6 different colors. I unloaded the pallet and sorted. As I lay the tile I pull from different piles. Still working on it, but in the meantime, here is what I have thus far.

Bought 4 pallets of this to refloor our entire lower level including entry way, kitchen and family room. Great price! Efficient delivery within 4 days. Loved the 2 hr windows they gave me and not the typical 4-6 hr window.
First pallet had exactly the right appearance with the golden tuscan hues we were seeking and as we saw on the display. Very happy with the way it looks in the entryway and dining area. Next two pallets almost seem like they have come from a completely different style and source. Much whiter, lighter. Unfortunately contractor had installed them by the time we saw those opened pallets. Now stuck with trying to figure out how to make it work. We have some borders which provide a bit of delineation between sections. Contractor says too many broken, chipped tiles. Working to use as many as possible for cuts. But hopefully HD will work something for us.
Assuming HD works something for the large number of chipped/broken tiles, this was certainly a good deal. Disappointed in the big change between the pallets. Wish I had been able to stop the contractor and been able to request HD for a closer match replacement. Now searching for options to stain travertine.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WifeofDwain Excellent purchase! Love the tile!
As with most people who are reading this review, I was on the fence about buying this tile without actually seeing it in person. So, if that is you-if you're wondering if you should buy it or not-I'd say "YES!!!". Please read the entire review first :)
We ordered 6 pallets of tile to lay in the main living area of our house. The 6 pallets all came from the same lot and, for the most part, were in sequential order (Pallet #9 of lot XYZ, Pallet # 10 of XYZ, etc). With that being said, each pallet still has its own unique color. So, as with most recommendations, when we laid the tile, we pulled one tile from each pallet at a time, laid those 6 tiles then got 6 more tiles to lay. This kept the color variation from looking off. The tile looks AMAZING! I love the natural look of each tile and the character it brings to the room.
Our tile came from Turkey. In researching, most travertine comes from either Turkey or China, with Turkey being the higher quality material. So, needless to say, I was very relieved with I saw it was made in Turkey.
You MUST seal this tile before and after grouting. We used a 511 Impregnator Sealer (which we bought from Home Depot for $35/quart). The stone is very smooth on the top, so we tried grouting a closet before sealing to see how it would look. HUGE mistake! You MUST seal the tile before grouting and after. Sealing may seem like a lot of work, but it's really not. You wipe the sealer on, let it sit for 5 min then wipe off. It's so easy that I had my 10 year old son helping me seal. For the first sealing, 1 quart sealed about 500 sf.
We took the advice of others and back buttered every tile before laying. While this is a bit time consuming, it worked out well with the 3 of us on the project. We had one person laying tile, one back buttering and the 3rd was the runner (grabbing 6 more tiles, mixing up mud, cutting, etc). We have been able to lay about 1200 sf in 6 days.
As far as the quality of the tile, ours has been exceptional. We haven't had a broken tile yet, though we have had some minor chips on the corners, but nothing to complain about. The tiles are completely flat (vs. beveled on the edges) so there are very minimal scrap pieces.
All in all, this tile has been easy to lay and looks exceptional! I would def recommend it to anyone! We used Sable Brown grout throughout and it looks really nice.
Note: We ordered one extra pallet than what we calculated we'd need just in case some tiles were broken. It appears we'll have one possibly 2 pallets left over. Since we're not finished, I can't comment on the return process, though I will say that you'll need some sort of lifting aid if you plan on returning a pallet as each pallet weighs slightly over 1,600 lbs.
