Product Overview

Boasting a neutral look, the MS International Tuscany Ivory 18 in. x 18 in. Travertine Floor and Wall Tile features a smooth, semi-gloss finish for a stylish accent in your home. The natural pattern of the stone reveals streaks of beige color in varying shades for visual interest. The semi-vitreous tile is designed for use in a variety of interior applications in commercial and residential settings, including floors, walls and counter installations to accommodate multiple design needs. Coordinate with other field tile or natural stone trim and border accents to create a customized design to suit your space. Note: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish, etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer.

Does this have enough texture to use in a wet area like an outside patio/porch area?

Asked by: David
Not sure. Our interior lay is not slippery. We chose, however, to lay rough slate on our front porch.

Sadly we put this travertine in 1200 sq feet of our house a few months ago. Within no time, we had cracks in the dining room, down the hallway, in the family room, and office. Plus we have major pot holes and small holes everywhere!! We spent around $12-15,000 between materials and labor. My floor person had previously put these tiles in his own home and several others with no problems but the batch we got was obviously defective. My husband contacted home depot, and they told us we had to contact the vendor. We contacted the vendor with photos and description of how the tiles were installed. Of course, they came back to say it was not their inferior product but our installer's fault even though he has been installing tile floors for 30+ years and has never seen this happen before. Even my vet was warned by her contractor not to use these tiles from home depot and she reported there had been lots of bad reviews here but it seems a lot of them have somehow disappeared?! Shame on Home Depot for not taking this product off their shelves from this vendor. Seems like our only recourse at this time is Michael Finney 7 on your side and possibly small claims court. BUYER BEWARE!!! I wish I had read these reviews first!!!!!!

Trying to tile my 2,500 Sq Ft home with this stuff and It's pretty difficult. They are calling it ivory but the color variation ranges from ivory, to dark brown even some have a yellow hue to even a reddish hue. The reddish hue would have been the best to install through out my home, as it sort of had a brownish red look Sedona look, but there was only enough of that to put down around my kitchen island. So after laying down seven pallets of this stuff I'm returning the last two pallets. Out of the seven pallets I opened up, of those tiles I had to return at least 5% due to broken tiles, chipped corners, repairs in the tiles that were so extreme the tiles looked like they had splotches of white paint on them. A lot of the tiles are so filled with holes in the back they break when you pick them up with one hand, or try to cut them on the saw. Also the cuts on the backs of some of these tiles are not straight and the tile will be thicker in places on some tiles. On the edges of these tiles, some of them have hollow spots and if they are installed then walked on before they are grouted, the hollow spot may crumble under foot, then you are left with a hole or what looks like a chipped area from the top. I will finish the the job with tile from Lowe's at half again the price of this stuff, or if Lowe's stock looks like this cheap stuff does, I will go to Dal Tile at twice the cost but I won't have the issues I have had while trying to transport, unpack, and install this stuff. If you are doing a small area and can pick through the tiles in the store it may work but one little bump on the corner, the corner will chip off. What I have laid down and installed looks really good as I spread all the tiles out on moving blankets on my floors and matched the colors and patterns this tile has. I went ahead and dealt with this stuff and I'm fine with what I have installed but with these last two pallets of very dark brown with the hollow holes in the backs I'm not playing this game anymore. I would go ahead and recommend this tile but with a heads up on a lot of the issues you are going to run into installing this stuff.

We chose this product for a second apartment, knowing that this natural material is quite fragile. While the first job a few years ago had about a 15% scrap rate, this batch of tile had a 40%+ scrap rate, the result of many tiles having chipped edges or corners. The material chosen to bond the natural gaps in this very porous material seems to crack way too easily when sawing, resulting in the increased scrap rate. I would still recommend the product for its attractive look, but if you are cost sensitive, this tile may not be for you. Also be certain to purchase / retain a box of tiles for later repairs.

Recently, we bought the 18'x18' ivory travertine which unfortunately is a mix of ivory and beige despite its ivory label. Also, MI now ships on weak pallets as both pallets arrived with the wood shattered in four or more places. We accepted the shipment due to a deadline and because the outside cases were not broken. We had also ordered 40% more than estimated and we need partials due to a diagonal lay. (Fortunately, Home Depot accepts returns.) However, we are now concerned that we may run out. Ten years ago, we had a 5 of 5 experience with laying ivory travertine from Home Depot with only a few breakages (as expected with travertine). Despite its beauty, we give this product at best a 2 of 5.
