Product Overview

The MS International 12 in. x 12 in. White Sparkle Granite Floor and Wall Tile is a salt-and-pepper colored natural stone tile with many different applications. You can use the tile on a floor, wall or countertop, and it's suitable for residential and commercial installations, including bathrooms and kitchens. The unglazed tile is polished with a smooth finish, a high sheen and a moderate variation in tone. NOTE: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish, etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer. After installation, vendor disclaims any liabilities.

Does this tile look mostly gray or white?

What is the dominant color? I'm wondering will it be too gray/dark to go with black cabinetry. Thanks

What type of thinset do you recommend for countertop installation. Also, would you recommend sealing the tile before installation.

Asked by: 32541
I used OmniGrip mastic for my countertops and backsplash. I used mastic since I put the tile over my old laminate after ruffing it up with sand paper. I installed Cement Hardi board for the backsplash over my plaster walls. For grout I used Polyblend non sanded grout in Delorean Gray. I sealed the tile after it was all installed and grouted using Miracle 511 Impregnator sealer

What kind of board is used under the granite tile for counter top?

I would like to install ganite tile for a kitchen counter top I have new cabinets, so this would be starting from scratch. What kind of board is best and most supportive for the installation of the granite tiles? Can these granite tiles be installed close together so you have no grout lines? What type of sealer is recommened and how often?
Asked by: remodel
1. I would use 1/4-inch Hardiebacker cement board. 2. Theoretically, yes, these tiles can be butt joined. Laying butt-joined tile over a large area requires a significant amount of experience and practice. 3. You can't go wrong with Miracle Sealants 511 Impregnator.

Can this granite tile be used outside for a patio floor?

Asked by: MissMuffutt
Hi MissMuffutt, According to the Product Overview section on the tile's page it states that: "C.O.F. greater than .50 is recommended for standard residential and commercial applications and is marginally skid resistant" That being said, it would be okay for outdoor use, but it wouldn't hurt to place a rug or mat around high traffic areas to decrease the chances of slipping over it. My kitchen had stainless appliances and black cabinets, this tile was a perfect inexpensive match. I could not be more pleased and saved a considerable amount of money that went into 4 digits $$$$ X 2 by doing all the work myself at age 65. I used these tiles for my center island and counter tops. I then used brushed nickle Shluter trim for the front edge purchased at Home Depot. I went with the ABSOULUTE BLACK 12" granit tiles also purchased at home depot for my back splash. I SAVED A FORTUNE. My estimates for granit was $3200 to $4500 and laminate estimate was $1500. I did all this myself in Granit for about $700 for both the counter top and back splash, I have a very large kitchen. My Island alone is over 20 Sq feet! I could not be happier, I did all the work myself and it looks GREAT. The pictures posted do not do my kitchen justice. THANK YOU HOME DEPOT!

For my new kitchen, I chose to build my own granite counter tops (see attached photos) at a fraction of the cost of the fabricators. We chose this granite, and the price per square foot was an amazing bargain. Please note that the density of the black/gray elements vary slightly from one batch to another if you look closely at the 1st picture, you might notice this variance between the and and center tiles; inspect before leaving the store. Despite being granite, they are very porous and MUST be sealed. I never go cheap on sealers, and chose " 511 Porous Plus" it's done a very good job of keeping out stains from coffee and bloody Mary mix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this product was easy to install and looks great. Exactly what I ordered and expected. The tiles look like a slab when installed with no gaps. And for less than half of the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low variation granite This is a great low-variation granite tile that works very well with homedepot.com's shipping modality. We typically use it to set off white marble. There are two things you really need to know to use this granite tile effectively. The granite changes color when wet, and must be sealed with a good penetrating sealer (511 Impregnator is my favorite and the industry gold standard) after installation in any wet or damp area. Since no additional bullnose or other trim pieces are sold, if you intend to use this granite tile extensively, you will need to be able to make your own trim pieces with a profile wheel/grinder bit and the Archer diamond polishing pads that are sold on homedepot.com. If you know how to work granite, though, it's just great stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I have some black & white granite in my kitchen and this was the only place I could find any that would come close to matching it. I added countertops using this tile adding another 5 ft. of counter space and it looks great. Only downside was there was no trim pieces carried for the edge, but I just extended the tile over the edge 3/8" (the thickness of the tile) and put a 1" strip under it making it a square edge 1 3/8 ". I also used Home Depot tile mats to put it down, which is just peel and stick. I also did not use grout lines, so it would look like solid granite more and not "tile". I did weigh down any high spots for a day or so with several tiles or bricks. You will need to use a good wet saw. I put over 3/8 plywood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice for bathroom floor Used this tile to replace linoleum in a half-bath. Stellar look for an incredibly low price. Used delorean gray grout and sealer. Two caveats. Even sealed, when water is allowed to stand on the tile for any length of time, the wet granite temporarily darkens some what. After drying, the darker shading returns to normal natural color, but not right away. It may take even a day or 2 for this to occur. Also, natural variations in coloring can make some tiles look like there are small white paint "smudges" on the surface. Therefore, it's a good idea to order an extra box just to make sure all tiles are acceptable. So far, excellent choice for the new floor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 3 distinct different thicknesses :( I liked the look of the tiles--HOWEVER there were 3 very distinct and different thicknesses. So it was nearly impossible to get a smooth finish.
