Answer:
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,
We reached out to MFG for more information and below is their response.
“ MTD does not make the Ariens tractors so the MTD 42” Snow Thrower Attachment will not fit on his machine. I recommend that the customer contact Ariens for a compatible snow thrower attachment. "
Thanks

Rated 1.8 out of 5 by 5 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Less than I expected. Used it for 3 years so far. This came as a package deal with my cub cadet mower. Not as please as I wished. On my 3rd year with a 300 ft driveway. The pins that lock the unit onto the mower work themselves out on occasion. I have dummy corded them I still have lost them. Cotter pin attachment of the drive bracket is less than perfect and a PITA to put on. I now leave it on year round. The chute rotator is flimsy but it does still work. I have larger shoes on it so it doesn't dig into the gravel. I do use this alot and is does the job but after using the John Deere at work I feel that it could be better for $1300 . February 2, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Two stage snow thrower This product was not intended for my tractor. The three stage blower was the required product. August 11, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY I bought this item two winters ago now going into my 3rd and it HAS NEVER WORKED RIGHT!!! everytime I use it I have to spend at least an hour fixing a thrown or broken belt, or various busted hardware. poorly made at best. Manufacturer has only offered to send me parts as a "courtesy" and then I have to spend hours fixing the machine, not to mentions if it breaks during storm and I can't repair on the spot then I'm stuck shovelling. I'm selling it for scrape metal. Please do not buy unless you want to bust out tools everytime you start it up. December 6, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by low performance for the price paid when this blower works it will throw snow 25 feet with my 25hp lawn tractor. problem is the parts are low quality. I have had to replace the right angle drive ($360) and its drive pulley and several belts due to lousy engineering. the pulley wears out and wont hold the belt. they need to replace the parts with a new design at their expense. Every year i put this attachment on i have to remove and repair it several times February 10, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works well, but could use a bit more improvement I bought this snowblower to use with my new Cub Cadet GT 1054 after I replaced a 1968 Allis Chalmers B110 with snowblower that was starting to have too many maintenance issues. This snowblower is not of the quality of my 40+ year old snowblower, but it should last a good while. Things I like about this snowblower: + Crank handle for chute direction works well. + Handle for raising and lowering the chute works well. + Snowblower had no trouble going though the packed snow from the snowplow after 17" of snow this weekend. + Install on tractor wasn't too hard Things that need improvement: - Installing the undercarriage pulley assembly required the removal of a metal bar that connects from the lift assembly to the mower deck. This is not in the instructions. - The lift handle to raise and lower the snowblower seems a bit flimsy. - The chute rotation does not go past 90 degrees from the tractor. This is a problem when snowblowing in tight spaces and you want the blow the snow backwards slightly. - The guage of the metal used on the snowblower body seems a bit too light. - Price is a bit steep considering there are no motors on it, no wheel assemblies, and few moving parts with the exception of a bunch of pulleys and a transfer box. Overall, I am glad I purchased this and the few things that I think need improvement are fairly minor overall. December 16, 2013
