Customer Questions & Answers

Will it work to remove stain from concrete, or is it only paint?

I have a concrete bench and I need to remove the bluish gray color, but it's not really paint, it's like a stain was used
Asked by: Jgk
Hi-This product works on most surfaces including concrete. Stain is more difficult as it's in the pores of the concrete and you're pulling it out. I recommend letting the product sit on the bench from morning to afternoon or overnight and then pressure washing because you do have to get in the pores and pull that stain out. Good Luck!

Can t;his product be used on porcelain bathtubs?

Just moved into an apartment where the bathtub has been completely painted - paint peeling off in some areas but won't come off most. Don't want to do any damage to the tub

Can this product strip paint off of brick or wood?

Can this product strip paint off of brick or wood?
Asked by: daisygirl
It can certainly strip paint off wood and is quite effective as long as you follow the product's application instructions carefully. If you find there is softened paint left in the grain of the wood after you've scraped off the rest, you should be able to remove it with a brush. I've used a wire brush with brass bristles, but you could probably also use a scrubbing brush. Don't use a wire brush with steel bristles - it would be too harsh for the wood. Make sure you brush in line with the grain, not across it. I can't see any reason why the stripper shouldn't also work on brick, although I've not tried it. I'd probably use a scrubbing brush to finish off getting softened paint out of cracks and holes - a wire brush (brass or steel) might mark the bricks.

I had to strip the brick on my fireplace, and had tried Citristrip, but that only took off the top layer of paint, despite multiplie applications and waiting 20 hours. I was worried nothing would work, then saw reviews for MultiStrip. I applied the product, and left it for 3 hours, then started to scrape... The layers of paint that wouldn't come off with Citristrip scraped right off with Multistrip. I could scrape till I could see some brick. Then I got a wire brush and applied some elbow grease and the results were amazing. The wire brush got gummy with the product, I found I could easily clean the brush with soapy water. It probably took 1.5 to 2 hours of scraping and wire brush to achieve the results in the second picture. My next step will to use my drill and a wire brush to rough up the brick face -- my goal is place a concrete product over the brick, upon which I can lay marble tile. Multistrip achieved the goal of getting enough paint off to create a porous brick surface for my next steps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, just needs to be more for the price This stuff works great. Took paint & varnish off an old table. I let it sit for 24 hrs. before peeling it off. It definitely requires a thick coating. Which means a quart doesn't go very far. All in all, I will be using this again. Side note: this stuff is caustic to plastic & vinyl. I used natural bristle paint brush, the yellow rubber dish washing gloves & fabric drop cloth.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't work for us We bought this product in an attempt to be environmentally friendly. Having used it on an door with several coats of old oil paint, the result was very patchy. It needed a lot of effort and, even then, did not remove the paint in all the areas to which it was applied. The result was really very patchy. So it's back to the nasty chemical stuff for us, I'm afraid...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Removed 2 layers of paint from brick This worked great to remove paint from bricks, but, just like any stripper, it takes A LOT of time to remove the paint because of all the scraping and scrubbing that is needed to get paint out of the nooks and mortar chanels in brick. I will purchase more to strip the rest of my fireplace because it worked so well, but for those stripping brick indoors, it's a VERY messy job and this stripper will strip the finish/varnish/paint off of anything it touches if not promptly removed. Painters tape will NOT protect surfaces from this stripper. It messed up caulking and vinyl flooring because we only taped it off...just an FYI. Also, my wife who has asthma did not have any problems with fumes or the smell of this stripper. Also, our 3 dogs were not attracted to it nor did they try to lick it after wr applied it to the fireplace, but pets should be monitored when applying this stuff just in case. So I would say this is a good stripper for interior brick applications, but just like any other stripper, plan to scrub...a lot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Strips well, but not really multiple layers Good job striping a layer at a time, but really not much more in my application. I applied to an old interior door, with shiny paint, and 2-3 layers of paint underneath. It did a decent job, but after two application, some spots still had paint on them. Not just residue, but paint that will need additional striping. Really not a bad product, don't want to come across too negative, but at least in my case I would say the multiple layer part seems like an over promise.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works... Up to a point Recommended with qualifications. Needed it to go through a great many layers (including some oil and some lead) on a door in a 1928 house. With first putting a light coating on to remove the upper latex layers - they pull away from and lose contact with the layers underneath- three additional thick coatings left on for about 12 hours still didn't get the job done. I ended up burning off the rest, a task made harder because the paint had adhered to the door more because of the stripper. Judging by how it did, I think the stripper would have been effective on fewer layers or if all the layers had been latex. It was just too much for a job of this magnitude.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Use with caution; it strips right through tape As strippers go, this one does a pretty good job, though unless you have multiple layers of paint and/or stain to remove, I don't know that it works any better than a less expensive product. The problem I had with this product, that I've never had with any other stripper, is that it does very little good to tape off the areas you don't want to get it on. I used this product to refinish the kitchen cabinets, and I taped off - per instructions - the areas where the cabinets met the painted wall or other wood trim that I didn't want to strip. It made little difference, as when I pulled the tape up, the paint from the walls and the stain from the wood trip came up with it. Apparently, it just soaked right through the tape, rendering it pointless to have used it. I also used three different brands of painter's tape that I had left over from various projects, and the brand / quality of the tape made no difference; it soaked through each of them. It made little difference on the painted walls, since I planned to repaint them anyway, but I'm not at all happy about having to re-stain the wood trim. In short, I paid more for this product than other strippers, and it turned out to be more work in the long run.
