This strap puller works great! I bought it yesterday and used it to winch some 300 lb. logs up the hill and out of the woods. I was a little put off by the negative ratings but after using it I'm really pleased. Just be sure not to over wind it because it will jam. I just used a Sharpie pen to mark the point at which to stop on the strap and bingo no problems. One other slight issue is the plastic handle slips off the lever under aggressive use, but again no biggie, just use some rivets or machine screws to fasten it to the lever and all's well. Bottom line, my advice is: great tool; great price; MADE IN THE USA; buy it!

No, it will not pull 25' at a time but will pull 6'-8' at a time, stop and pull strap thru hoist and start ratcheting again (Total time from full reel to pull strap and start ratcheting is about 1 to 2 minutes). I just pulled a 800 lb air compressor up on a trailer and it took 3 cycles. If you want speed buy a motor driven cable hoist, but if the extra 15 minutes or so is not a big deal then go with this. I would definitely buy again.

Has a nice 25 ft strap but winching length is only around 8 ft which is not specified on the package. Please tell me how you can winch something on a trailer with an approx. 17 ft tail sticking out. Useless

I bought this tool to use as a come-along to stretch a chain link fence I installed. The first problem I happened upon was that the reel on which the strap is wound on was jammed because in the factory the strap was not wound in such a way that each loop of strap was right on top of the previous one. Instead some of the loops were wound over the ratchet teeth on the reel. To be able to pull additional strap off the reel, I had to disassemble the reel, untangle it, reinstall the reel, and then wind the strap on to the reel so it wasn't over the ratchet teeth.
It did work well in stretching the fence fabric. However, when it was stretched and secured with ties, I was unable to disengage and take the tension off the strap, despite following the directions that came with the tool to the letter. The ratcheting mechanism would not work as advertised and would not release the tension on the strap, so my fence is up but I can't get the tool off the fence.
Calling MAASDAM looking for support was absolutely useless. No one I could talk to even knew the product existed. They said "Arturo" at the factory would call me to help. Never called.
Don't waste your money. Use your lawn tractor to stretch the fence.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mike Super Great Web Strap Puller
This is really a great puller but I noticed allot of people just don't understand this puller and that is it was designed to only crank up about 12 to 15 feet of strap not all the 25 feet they give you with this unit. The extra 10 feet or so it to be used to tie to whatever item you are going to pull and then crank up the 12 to 15 feet and then release the strap and retie it if you want to pull the item any further. As far as the strap goes as you are cranking it up with the other hand just guide the strap to go on the reel as not to pinch the strap, it is very easy to use. This is the same puller as the unit with the 12 foot strap that is rated 5 star and sells for allot more then this one because people just don't know how to use it or understand it. This is the same except puller they just give you another 13 feet of strap to tie to the item being pulled.

The strap puller works well, but no you can not pull all of the strap onto the reel. This was not that big of a problem for me as you can set the strap to the length you need and start pulling. The webbing is woven with a loose weave and can snag easily on sharp/jagged things that it runs across. It does seem to have the working strength listed and was easy to operate.
It did work well and I think that is will last, as long as you are aware of these shortfalls. If you want a cable puller, get one. If you want a strap puller that will be less likely to damage anything that strap is tighten across, get this. I am happy with my purchase but it could be improved upon.

No you can't pull with all 25 feet, maybe around 15 and if you over crank, good luck getting it to free wheel again and its hard to keep the strap winding up neatly, if not the gear teeth won't engage.
