The spool broke one day while I was using mine. It appears the cable was pinched and it split the side off. This left me stuck with tension on the cable and no way to unspool as everything jammed up. I finally got it undone using a pair of channel locks to wedge the pawl in place to let it back out. I was quite surprised and disappointed since no come along should explode when using the standard handle (no cheater pipe). I'm no that strong. that said, I think it was a fluke, and short of a $300 version, I don't think it can really be beat. I'll likely buy another.

There is nothing sexy about a come -along. It just does the job it is supposed to do. We straightened our fence posts with it with no problem.

OK, if you need a solid comealong (and what homeowner doesn't?), this is a great unit. Bought mine a week ago to help with shrub removal, and I am quite pleased. First, throw away the instructions and figure it out by yourself. These directions are actually hilarious and cannot be understood. Second, get you some chain and get to work. This unit put up with maximum load in tough conditions for me. It pulled out shrubs that were actually small trees. Took every bit of its power, but it seemed to enjoy it!

It took nearly a month and a half for this on-line only winch to come in. It was packed in the wrong box. I almost took it back! Luckily, I opened the box to see what they had really sent. It was the right winch. It is pretty much bullet proof. And it is made in USA. Even if it costs a little more, it the quality is there, I will buy US made products in an effort to keep Americans working.

Easy to use. Very strong. Only complaint was instructions were unclear on how to lower load.

better than the others more money yes but these ones do sees more reliable, a larger spool means a larger tool, however i belive thea with a larger spool diameter the cable bends less making it less likely to fail.i do wish that the stores would state cable size and other important data. on all items.

I bough this cable puller to help guide down some small to medium trees in my yard and it worked perfectly. Requires very little force, the 6' is more than enough pull, doesn't bind, and it easy to release. I would definitely recommend.

I have used several models of winch pullers and I was surprised how small the spool was and the short length of the cable. The pulley does help for strength and I would not change that, but for pulling any distance it is not appropriate.
