I purchased this on sale at Home Depot. I am very pleased with the purchase. I also bought the 178 can Magic Chef beverage cooler from Home Depot which looks very much like the wine cooler. The beverage cooler has reversable doors which the wine cooler does not (the more expensive one does not have reversable doors go figure). I placed them together and under a granite counter. They both work well and have kept the wine and beverages cool. They look great together and I have had numerous positive comments on them. Considering the cost and the amount of beverages I keep on hand, I am very pleased.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by UpInTheAir Dual zone feature will quickly fail
I returned my second refrigerator to HD today. The first one failed in dual zone mode within a month of buying it, so I had it replaced at the store and bought a warranty. The second one failed within 60 days so I got my money back on both the warranty and fridge. This model is a disaster, the dual zone feature will fail quickly. If you truly want a dual zone model, get something else. This product is horrible and shouldn't be sold.

You will read a lot of bad reviews for the product but you have to understand what you are getting in order to be happy with it. First and foremost it is a beverage cooler not a refrigerator. Three months after installing my unit, the lower section stopped cooling. Immediately, I thought all of the negative comments were accurate and I had made a mistake. I decided to look at the unit and do some investigation before trying to take advantage of the warranty or return it. I discovered the entire back off the lower section was a block of ice behind the panel. The unit was not defrosting. I discovered that due to a poor design and configuration of shelves I had chosen, that I had set the unit up for failure. I had the top zone set at 40 degrees and the lower zone at 38 degrees. I realized that those two factors caused the compressor to run too much and not allow it to defrost. I unplugged the unit for a day, let it completely defrost, dried the unit out and started from scratch. First, I took every thing out of the unit including the shelves and turned it on. Within two hours both zones were cooling correctly.( I set the top zone at 41 degrees and the lower zone at 40 degrees. I added the racks to the top zone which caused the temp to rise a couple of degrees but within 15 minutes it was back to the set temp. I added the racks to the lower zone and the temp went up about 6 degrees and after an hour had not come down at all. I discovered my mistake was using a glass shelf between the fan and the temp sensor. Once I replaced the glass shelf with a wire rack, the temp went down to the preset temp. I then place a glass shelf above both the fan and the temp sensor and the unit had no problem maintaining the correct temp. after the unit had run at temp for several hours, I loaded the top with wine and water bottles. Anytime you load warm bottles, the temp will rise. This is to be expected. after about three and a half hours, the temp returned to the preset temp. I then loaded the lower half with about 40 sodas and 20 water bottles. I took about 5 hours for the lower unit to return to temp. Now that I have the right shelf configuration and I don't try to run the unit at its lower temp, it works flawlessly. The compressor runs less than half of the time it previously ran. If you follow these simple recommendations, I believe you too can enjoy this cooler. As far as I can tell the next closet comparable model is more than twice the price of this unit so i was easier for me to find a configuration that worked than spend twice the money. Remember these steps
1. Bring the unit to temp completely empty.
2. Add your shelf configuration and make sure it stays at temp, putting a glass shelf between either fan and the temp sensor for that zone is going to impact performance
3. When initially loading, load one zone at a time
4. Refill the unit at night when the door ca remain closed 6 or more hours.
These simple steps will make you a happy customer

This product was a great purchase at first, liked the dual zone to keep wine and beer at different temperatures. Easy to operate and kept beverages at a nice cool temperature. about 2 weeks before the warranty was up the bottom section stopped cooling. I called Magic Chef and they sent a repair guy out and he said a new board was needed. Two weeks later the top section was no longer cooling. The new board came in and was installed. The repair guy left thinking it would solve both problems. After waiting the 4 hours in which the owners manual instructs you to wait for proper cooling, the fridge in either section had not cooled at all. Not even 1 degree. I called the repair guy back he came to check it and no power was getting to the compressor. He reported his findings to Magic Chef. They emailed me requesting me to cut the power cord and send it back to them before providing me a full refund. They said they do NOT replace appliances. So now I have to deal with disposing of the freon, which the repair guy told me can cost up to $180! this is so annoying that Magic Chef can't pick up their faulty appliance and stick me with a broken unit. Thanks for the refund and the hassle. I wouldn't recommend this at all.

This is our second purchase of THIS particular cooler. The first one lasted 2 months past the warranty! It is the only cooler we could find with dual controls therefore we purchased another one. Hopefully this one will be longer lasting. The first cooler was bought on Black Friday. Could they have been defective or had been installed with deficient parts? We will see.....
