Answer:
Yes the ice is very chewable. The shape is fun for kids = they like to put their finger in the hole and eat it that way.

there are only a few manufacturers that make all of them through rebranding. As for ice in 7 minutes thats really misleading, the first batch in 7 minutes melts almost immediately. Pretty much all the water in the ice maker has to get real cold before ice starts to flow, plan on a couple of hours.
after that, no complaints. Also I use bottled water to reduce the sodium. These ice makers don't work with purified water, they need the salts to sense the water level. so I switched to 'no salt'. This ice maker is as good as anything on the market, but I'm disappointed in how they all perform.

Answer:
Yes - we have ours in the utility room in our house and we use it stand alone. Just don't lose the little plug that comes with it. The water recycles, so you will have to drain out the old water from time to time and keep it clean to avoid mildew. We have never had a problem with that. We have had ours several years.

If you are in the correct region of the country ,you have electricity ran to the shed so it can be plugged up and you have some way of keeping water in it and removing the ice then yes
IF you are in a hot climate then not likely or in a very cold climate it won't
If you have that shed with a semi controlled temp by using AC and Heat then again yes it most

It is not designed for hot or cold uncontrolled temperatures and if the ice keeps melting in the holder then the water may become so cold it will not freeze

Answer:
The icemaker is rated by the manufacturer to be used only indoors at temperatures between 50 and 100 degrees. Like putting a refrigerator outdoors, you could probably use it (in violation of warranty terms) in a stand alone shed at your own risk. Freezing would not be good obviously, nor would a 140 degree hot box!

I'd say the colder outside the better, the machine just has to work harder if its warm outside and will take longer to make ice. But I see no reason why you couldn't install it anywhere and have it work properly.

On other end of the spectrum, operating in temperatures much over 95 degrees melts the ice about as fast as the unit can make it, since it is not insulated or designed to SAVE its ice. Read Less

Great question James
I think most of them take about 15 to 20 minutes for a first batch .
The first couple of batches may not be full batches
After that it will make about every 7 to 10 minutes depending on temp. around it
Keep in mind this is an ice maker only and will not hold ice for very long as it will melt
The ice maker does not make a basket full each time it makes

Cycle time starts up immediately, so it depends on your chosen size of ice "cubes." The small size of cube will be ready in about 7 minutes. Medium about 9, and large about 11.

Hello, James,
Our unit is the white one but I don't think color will make a difference in the answer to your question so here goes. We actually timed it, and with the unit set to make the thinnest-walled ice bullets, it was 9 minutes from plug in and water-fill to first ice release. Our timing for the thickest ice has never been more than 13 minutes, whether the unit has been cooled or not. The ice builds up quickly unless you are standing impatiently before it waiting with empty glass ("a watched pot never boils")! Hope this helps. We LOVE our icemaker!

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 98 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love it This makes ice quickly but could keep the ice colder. The running water behind the ice tray gets on the cubes and keeps them wet. I would buy this again. Does not seem to be energy efficient because it needs a dedicated outlet by itself. Good buy and perfect for my office needs. September 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Conter topp size. Makes cubes quickly-- like the counter top size. Case could be better insulated. Easy operation just plug in add water and the machine does the rest. I like and use mine a lot. September 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Performs well but a little finicky The product works as described - it makes a good amount of ice quickly. It has nice features varying the size of the cubes. Only issue is that we don't always require it to be running and choose to use the power off button. It doesn't restart effectively just powering back on but needs to be unplugged to be reset. After that it works well. The user's guide mentions that if it is being moved it should be stabilized and unplugged for a period of time before restarting. That is not what we are doing but does seem to be what is required. Its not a huge issue and easily worked around. If we leave it in ice making mode continuously it works like a charm. July 23, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hopefully just a factory lemon The unit lasted approximately 32 hours before failing. I had an idea that it might fail about 10 hours prior to failure as the machine began to hum louder that when it was first started. I got home from work the second day and there was no ice in it. I tried to restart it four times and it failed to stop at the proper cycle position each time and eventually timed out each try. I had the larger version several years ago and it work fine for a few years, until a design flaw rotted out the wiring by dripping condensation water onto the connectors. September 17, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bad christmas gift so i got this machine as a christmas gift to myself december 2015 today is March 1st 2016 and it no longer makes ice. the add water March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Ice Maker, A Must Have ! Love this Ice Maker, cant keep up with the amount of Ice it makes. The first couple of trays will be thin, but once the unit reaches its maximum cold temperature ice makes non stop. Would recommed this ice maker for anyone. Our RV doesnt have an auto ice maker so this is perfect for the RV or any home that doesnt have much space in the freezer. No more ice trays in the freezer, yeah. If I had to have one negative it would be you have to be on top of dumping of the ice, it stores the ice only, If you dont dump the full 4 lbs that is made it will eventually begin to melt. Unit has a wonderful auto stop once the tray is full. A great buy, I have more ice than I can store, which is a great thing... July 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Ice maker It's makes a lot of ice. But buy the extended warranty. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great ice maker! Very happy with this purchase. Bought this for our weekend ranch house. This is my 2nd purchase of this brand. I also bought the larger unit for our main home over a year ago. Both produce lots of ice and are very reliable. Especially like the drain plug on this brand. Makes cleaning easy. October 7, 2014
