Answer:
The larger ice cube is similar to sonic sized, so the small one is pretty small. There are 3 size choices. The medium one is good for chewing.

Hi There,
Thank you for your question.
The size of the ice cubes on the smallest setting would be considered "small ice cubes" not pellet size.

Answer:
To drain the water reservoir, you turn open the drain plug which (in my case) drains to the outside and into the sink beside. When you turn the unit off, any excess water drains back into the water reservoir.

If there is any water left in the reservoir when you have accumulated enough ice for your needs (or If you lose electricity) you will want to position the external drain over a sink or a bucket before removing the plug. Since the unit weighs about 25 pounds EMPTY be careful that it is positioned securely to avoid snapping off the plastic drain. I am going to try to attach aquatic air hose to mine & see how that works. Read Less

Answer:
It drains back into the unit as the ice melts to keep the ice flowing. There is also a drain on the side to empty the hopper for storage or transport. It is light so you just hold it over the sink untill it's empty.

Water is poured into the Ice Maker through the open top lid to fill the reservoir. This is basically the open space that holds the water below the Ice Basket.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding ! I bought this unit because the fridge Ice Maker just could not keep up with me & my wife. I followed the instructions as I set this unit up making sure the fan was not blocked . Within minutes, maybe 8, the first ice went into the bin. Happy ?? Oh yeah.... works well...... quiet.... fits my needs well .... February 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little ice maker We were looking for a counter top Ice maker that made pellet ice like Sonic ice. They were not counter top and cost a lot more than this model. We use the small bullets that is similar to the Sonic ice my wife was looking for. It takes a while for it to get going.but once it gets going every 7 or 8 minuets or so more ice comes out. The ice is very wet as this unit does not refrigerate the bin area, so if you bag and put in a freezer or put in a bin in your freezer you will have to break it up for use. This is just a small annoyance. We use ours almost every day and let our freezer ice maker make the hard half moon cubes and we bag the ice from this or use it all day for fresh ice and turn it off at night. I don't know how energy efficient it is so I only gave it a 3. August 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Money wasted.... We bought this Magic Chef icemaker a few days ago. It didn't work so we took it back and exchanged it for another one just like it. Same thing. I filled it up to the MAX line with water....4 hrs later still no ice. Very disappointed in this product. December 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great item I love this product. I recently bought myself a Red Cat Deck Cooler for the summer but I don't have an automatic ice cube maker in my fridge and running to the store for lbs of ice is out of my way so invested in this great machine. I make ice all the time and bag it for the freezer and when I use some, I just turn the machine on and I've got ice. Now I have ice to make all my favorite drinks, keep them all cold for parties and have way enough left over to make snow cones for the kiddies. June 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No more shelling out cash for ice! I LOVE MAKING OUR OWN ICE! Unit is no noisier than any refrigerator, except when it drops the 9 "cubes" and that happens about every 12 minutes while operating. Our white unit is sleek and easy to clean. Processing one reservoir yields two 1-gallon bags of ice, which must then be preserved in the freezer; this unit MAKES ice, it does not preserve it, but they tell you that, don't they! Remembering that plastic is not as durable as metal, I expect if I treat it appropriately it will serve my needs nicely. These cylinders of ice melt faster than would a solid cube, but that just makes them ideal for use in smoothies!! Nothing gripes me more than a lumpy smoothie! If this machine quits on me, I would order another in a heartbeat. I have used it for a couple of months now and am still excited. June 11, 2013
