There is nothing more stupid than stupid cautionary warnings. Mini Fridges have no circulating air motor, only the compressor, which both cools and circulates the refrigerant. The heat is wasted though vanes in the back warming your room, while the refrigerant flows through a tube into the wall of the 'ice box' of the freezer compartment. This part has hollow channels so the expanding refrigerant heat sink is spread fairly uniformly through the entire wall of the freezer box: top, sides and bottom, such that the air inside and anything actually touching the ice box wall or floor is made colder than the ice that forms on everything in the box and its walls. The spent refrigerant having absorbed the heat inside the box walls [while making them colder] returns to the compressor for another cycle. The heavier cold air chilled by the ice box also also circulates as it drains out of the ice box and down through the larger compartment by gravity to make everything inside uniformly cold. The heat leaving the items you place in the box is transferred to the cold air, warming it and thereby causing it to rise and return to the ice box where it gives up its heat to the icebox walls and sinks once again. Because the freezer compartment's cooling capacity was designed to not only freeze items within the 'ice box', but also by this passive cold air-gravity and heat-driven warmed air cycle within the larger box, to chill its contents, a second MOTOR TO MOVE AIR WITHIN THE COLD COMPARTMENT IS NOT REQUIRED. You set the thermostat on the freezer door to keep the freezer freezing and the remainder of the box not freezing. Too much ice buildup and it becomes more difficult for the refrigerant to keep the larger compartment [your beer, etc.] cold enough, as its efficiency at cooling and maintaining an evenly cold environment for your non freezer items is reduced by the thermal insulating properties of water-ice. Thus, occasional defrosting is necessary unless you live somewhere where the air is incredibly dry. Water Ice is an insulator? Astounding! Larger refrigerators use the same passive cycle dumping cold air into the top of the freezer and the larger fridge compartment, while the air circulation motor is essential in their larger boxes to ensure the milk you set in the refrigerator door, stays just as cold as the old jar of kippers stuck to the bottom in the back of the lowest shelf. More or less. So your dumb warning was likely plucked from the manual for a larger fridge with active air circulation and stuck in the cautionary information of this mini fridge. I love the sorts of advisories that instruct you not to use your mini-fridge as a hat, or a boat, especially when plugged in. How sensible! Of course the mini-fridge door lets the cold air out, so I guess you could say in a roundabout way that this seemingly unnecessary and therefore confusing advisory, indicates you should put your items to be cooled inside the mini-fridge and not leave them outside blocking the front of the door, where they will become spoiled [LOL!]. IMPORTANT REMINDER: in this case of the mini fridge, THE THINGS YOU WANT TO STAY COLDEST IN THE FREEZER DO SO in fact, WHEN THEY REMAIN IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE 'ICE BOX' WALLS AND FLOOR. I'm just chillin'. So, have yourself a great day too! ;) Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Purchase I bought this frig for my daughter for college and it is the perfect size and weight. June 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent small refrigerator Glass shelves for easy cleanup, large door storage, very efficient and does an excellent job at keeping food cool. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mini refrigerator good buy Mini refrigerator was a good buy for the money. Plus it has a $50 rebate. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic Mini Fridge!! I have previously owned a very similar mini fridge. It was a Kenmore, and it was just ok. When I bought this Magic Chef I was surprised by the better arrangement of the door shelves, the inside light (the Kenmore didn't have), the silent operation, and the much better cooling system. It's a great mini fridge! March 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Refrigerator..efficient and quiet Purchased this at the store. Salesman opened the box and showed me the refrigerator..at my request. Very good condition. Boxed it back up. Laid it down on the back seat of my Buick Regal..Got it home and positioned it in place. I did not plug it in for 3 hours..just so refrigerant will settle. Plug it in and turned it up to 7...Three hours later I turned down to 5. I put beer in refrigerator and popsicles in freezer. Next morning beer was nice and cold and popsicles were still frozen...it works great. it is also very quiet. I got the "chrome" door version ...Great deal for this size..This is working great for my man cave. January 18, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet, but no self defrost I purchased this unit on sale because my existing small fridge quit working. Since it was 50% less cost than the next closest model i chose this one. I am now wondering how quickly I will have buyer's remorse. The fridge works perfectly, but when I read the literature it said a manual defrost is required. I tend to buy slightly more expensive models when there is a meaningful improvement in ease of use to justify the extra expense. Unloading a stocked fridge and finding a way to keep things cold for the day while manually defrosting is a pain in the neck. If keeping your expenses down to an absolute minimum is your main priority, then you should like this fridge. If spending a little extra is worth it to make your life a little easier, then you should consider another model refrigerator. December 29, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by To describe a small refrigerator This was a horrible purchase. Did not need or want the small freezer. It is solid ice and drips all over the refrigerator. Worse investment I have ever made. The freezer does not work being a part of the refrigerator. Did not realize the shortcomings when I ordered it. December 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for Small Office We use this in a small office setting for four people and it works great. Plenty of room for everyday lunch as well as cans and other condiments. December 22, 2015
