Answer:
It does not smoke at all. It's a clean/roast-bake oven. It comes with a booklet that gives timing, etc. Just use it as you would any oven, as regards to recipes. (Can put vegs, potatoes in with a roast for ex.) I cooked a 5 lb chicken for 25-30 min. It will not smell up your place.

I haven't used it in a hotel room, but if you set the correct time for the item being cooked (follow instructions in the guide book included) then there should be no smoke. In other words avoid burning whatever you place in the oven to cook.

I take mine on the road and cook in my RV, which is comparable to a hotel room in size, and it does not smoke for me (nor set of my smoke/carbon monoxide detector). I guess it could smoke if you set it on too high a temperature for too long, but that goes for any cooking device... I have never had mine smoke...

A recipe book is not included with the unit. There are several independent recipe books on the market for sale as well as Magic Chef offers a recipe section on their website: http://mcappliance.com/recipes. You can filter recipes on the right hand side to only have microwavable recipes by selecting "Microwave Oven."

As for the fish, you could air fry the fish, or bake it as it is an oven. Air frying is great! Once you try foods you normally deep fry like chicken or fries (or fish), air fried with NO oil, you will never go back. You can also bake fish in the oven, I have baked frozen salmon and fingerling potatoes for 3 people in 15 mins. prep and cook time! stirred together olive oil, lemon, capers, salt and pepper in a bowl; sprayed racks with cooking spray and placed multi-colored fingerling potatoes on bottom rack and coated top of potatoes with mixture, put frozen salmon on top rack, coated top of fish with mixture, put lid on and set temp to 375 for about 12 mins. Salmon came out flaky, moist. Read Less

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Stopped working, got homedepot app does not show any of my purchases, but got my reciepys Worked outstanding until today does not turn on. Extra warranty May 29, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not for me I've always wanted a turbo cooker and when I saw the good deal, I grab 2 not just one with intention to give the other one as a present. The product is easy to use, easy to clean but I feel that, the features is just like the convection oven. The chicken cooked at 45 mins and its juicy and soft but not crispy on the outside. It just came out like a rotisserie chicken. So, why get an extra thing to clutter your kitchen ? It will be good for household without an oven. Now, I know I won't be getting another one of this kind. August 16, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by works as expected Hello. I have several of these (all different brands). This one happens to be noisy as the dickens. Offhand I'd say the impeller isn't balanced along w/ something inside loose or perhaps piece broken off that rattles. It heats and cooks fine, but I'd say this one won't be one of the longer lived units. Course, it was cheeep, so whattayaexpect- Pluses are same diameter - almost identical to several Rosewill units that preceeded it, so bowls / racks all work. August 17, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good portable oven, no magic but convenient It's a good sized glass oven and you can fit a 9" cake pan comfortable in it. I've researched a bit about convection ovens before my purchase. I've used it about 3 times. In my experience, it doesn't live up to the fame as advertised --taking about 1/2 of the time of conventional ovens and cook at a lower temperature. And don't believe it when they tell you it saves space by providing a rack you can bake two things in two layers. I tried it the first time, the stuff on the lower rack was almost not baked at all in the center. Because the top layer shielded most of the heat from the heating element. Depending on what you bake, the heating time chart included in the manual is not that accurate. It's correct for some items, but some are just way off. I baked brownies and it's not even close to done at the recommended setting. I had better luck following the time and temperature from the recipe, which is for old-fashioned ovens. So, this is not a magic oven, but more like a compact-sized regular oven. I don't know if it's more energy efficient, but it heats up my place about the same. However, the up side of this glass oven is that you won't have any trouble seeing what the food looks like, or what color it has changed to. August 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little convection oven I cook everything I can in this. Perfect for grilling steak, salmon and crispy chicken legs. I bake cakes and cupcakes. Reheat fries, garlic bread etc all without heating up kitchen and using a lot of electricity August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very good for the money 1st time I buy this oven . I am surprise with this work very well . It meet my expectation August 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good The oven looks good. I didn't cook on them yet. So I hope everything is ok August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! This is a great second oven and a God-send when I want to roast something on a hot day! With no preheat time and faster cooking speeds than my oven it is a great way to get a meal on the table quickly. One thing I would suggest is NOT using it to make hard boiled eggs as they say you can do. I tried that and the eggs were almost raw at the end of the suggested time. August 16, 2016
