Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Upset Died after about 2 Years
We purchase our freezer from Magic Chef about 2 years ago. It completely stopped working. Tried to get it going again on my own but had no luck. Very frustrating because we lost everything that was in the freezer. We didn't notice it until there was a puddle of water on our basement floor.
Just from reading the other reviews, if you want a $350 freezer that is works for about a year, this is your freezer. If you want it around for longer than that, I would go with a different brand.

This freezer is the perfect size with inside shelves, and door shelves - no worries about finding what you want quickly. It runs so quietly it's unbelievable. My plan was to put it in the garage, but read that it's not meant for a garage so kept it in the kitchen, couldn't be happier.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Keith Died after 2 years
Just recently, as in last week, died after less than 3 years. While it easy to use and organize food, there is now way that it should have died in such a short period of time. It's a good thing we held on to an old fridge....not buying Magic Chef again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Verified Reviewer Great Entry Level Upright Freezer
I've been looking for a small upright freezer for YEARS to fit in a tight spot in my dining room. I used to have a chest freezer in that spot that was 5 cu. ft. and wasn't big enough as our family grew.
I found this one on sale for about 15% off the normal price and decided to buy it, despite some bad reviews, which I now think are more User Error than Product Error.
The door seal is very strong, and as long as you take the time to ensure that it is closed, I don't see any way it can pop open. Closing a door isn't hard to do.
Delivery was 5 days early! The driver contacted me via phone and text to let me know he was on his way. He even brought it into the house, though I only paid for Basic delivery.
I've attached some photos of my freezer with food in it so you can get an actual idea of what it will hold. You will see how big the freezer is in relation to other household objects. The door photo only shows three of the door shelves; there is one more at the bottom. The interior photo shows you all the shelves except the tiny one on top - i was able to fit 4 packs of regular bacon up there.
The shelves (except the tiny top one) are 17"d x 18"w x 9"h. I plan on getting some plastic bins to sort my steak/chicken/pork, etc.

A great value for the $. Holds plenty and the shelves make everything accessible without the digging.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jack Worst freezer ever
After only 4.5 years it just suddenly quit, ruining hundreds of dollars worth of food. It was regularly defrosted and never overfilled. Home Depot's response: "Too bad, it's out of warranty." Magic Chef - same response. Purchase from Magic Chef again - NEVER! Purchase from Home Depot - We'll really have to think long and hard about it! This product was on the Home Depot website last night. Then we complained. Today this freezer's been yanked. With a one star rating perhaps it should've been pulled LONG ago! What's up with that?!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WASTEDMONEY WASTE OF MONEY
Thought this would be the perfect size for retired family of 2. Our old freezer needed to be replaced, although it was still working fine. Didn't want to risk it quitting and loosing everything in it. We always purchase meets/veg/etc. when on sale and freeze it to save money. Purchased this freezer, and once set up, trasfered all contents from older one to our "New Freezer". After only 10 days, we discovered that it had STOPPED working, and all content was thawed and needed to be thrown out. Under the Freezer Warranty it states "Content losses due to failure of the unit" are NOT COVERED. I will never purchase a Magic Chef product again.
