We made this purchase and then built the laundry closet to be sure the fit was correct. That was important since this washer will not be portable in our situation. The original hot and cold water hoses are plastic so we purchased separate high quality hoses to avoid future problems. The service person who installed the hoses was quite impressed with the washer. He suggested to place a large sheet of heavy art paper under the washer to reveal a water leak in the event one should occur. We also flip the H. and C. valves to off when the washer is not in use.
The various choices of settings took me a few minutes to learn and are now easy to operate. Great choices, especially the ten minute wash/rinse/spin cycle. The machine is quiet in both wash and spin settings. Water level use is most efficient. The enemy of the wash cycle are large terry bath towels. They become heavy balls that bump noisily during washes. Wash cloths and small hand towels are OK. It is best to keep heavy items separate from light weights. I can wash five or six pairs of jeans with no problem. Add a bath towel and the bumping begins. My solution was to switch to thin or linen towels that cause no bumping. A full set of queen size sheets and pillow cases wash easily and spin exceptionally well. As I recall terry bath towels could also be problems in my previous large family washer. For the price, size and the results produced, I am a happy owner of this washer.

Ordered online for a replacement, easy to setup and used right away. Better than the one that I had to replace. The safety feature I like is that the machine will not operate unless the lid is closed. I am able to hook it up to the apartment size hook-ups even though a portable.
Free Shipping included. Thank You Home Depot !
Another store wanted to include a 150.00 shipping fee.

This washer is really great. It works great. I bought a furniture dolly and placed in on it so that I can roll it around easy. The little wheels on it don't work that great. It has several settings for washing, it's just like a large washer, but small. I love it! Cleans clothes great and the spin cycle does a good job of eliminating water. Well worth the money!

I've had the washer for about a month and have had no problems with it. It washes my clothes great. The washer is pretty big for a portable washer though. I thought it was gonna be smaller but it's okay cause it's almost the size of a regular washer and can fit a lot more clothes when washing. Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I would recommend this washer. Also, make sure to buy the extended warranty from Home Depot just in case something goes wrong.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by arthurmometer Good washer, terrible instructions and frustrating manual.
This washer arrived without any installation instruction or users manual. However it was easy to install and turn on. It is a programmable washer with no hint on the washer panel how to program it. After two calls, Home Depot emailed a users manual to me. The English portion of the manual is written in badly broken English, and in some cases ambiguius or not understandable at all. After about 2 hours of experimenting, I as able to do basic washing for different types of loads, which worked well. But several other settings are available on the front panel and I have no clue what they are for or how to use them.

We got this washer for our RV. It fits perfectly in our closet and hooked up to our washer hook ups. We did have to buy additional washers to get a good seal though. I've used the washer several times and haven't had any issues. I can fit 2 washer loads into the laundry room dryer and they'll be dry in an hour.

I paid $250 for this Magic Chef compact washer and took it home on my Toyota Corolla on a 1 1/4" receiver platform I have on the car. The complete boxed unit is light enough for an adult man to lift by himself. I live in an efficiency and have a space in the bathroom next to the sink where this is hooked up. It was double-boxed. There was a LOT of styrofoam and cardboard to dispose of, but it was complete and in perfect order right out of the box.
This is a compact portable washing machine that can either be hooked up like a full size washer or hooked up temporarily to a kitchen or bathroom sink. I have it set up in the bathroom with a bronze y-adapter so I can use the sink without moving/removing connections.
All the parts needed were there, including a hose extra because I did a one hose sink hookup. It also comes with a hot water cap for when you are only using one hose and a threaded sink to hose adapter. It's a little smaller than the Avanti W798ss compact it replaced, but much quieter. It also has a filter built in the back. The Avanti, which has no filter, quit working several times after dimes or other tiny objects I left in my pants pockets jammed up the pump. That required turning the Avanti upside down and disassembling the pump. The Magic Chef filter screws into the back at the bottom so you will have to pull the machine out to empty it.
The Magic Chef is lightweight empty but it does NOT roll, you have to drag it into place. The Avanti was much easier to move. The drain hose, like the Avanti, comes out the left side and I had to move it to the back. Neither machine is set up to have the drain hose positioned in the back, you have to leave the back cover loose to run the drain hose out the back. Rerouted, the hose was still long enough to reach the sink drain.
The Magic Chef will not fill with the lid lifted, the Avanti will. I am not happy about that. The Magic Chef lid hinges in the middle so it takes less headroom to lift.
The Magic Chef won't handle as much as the Avanti, but it gets my clothes very clean and doesn't knot up my jeans and towels like the Avanti did. I haven't tried the program features, but for $250 I don't expect much anyway. I can be in the main room and barely hear the Magic Chef washer running, even when it's spinning. The Avanti was very noisy.
The standard cycle is less than an hour in real time. Both washers understate the time because they cannot know the time to fill and drain. Two days' clothes in about the limit of the Magic Chef, but with the fast cycle time it's easy enough to do two loads back to back in one evening.
