My wife and I sold our house and have been living in the family cabin with no laundry on a small island while we find a new house. Buying this dryer and the portable washer was a much anticipated event since we were spending our Saturday afternoon and $90 a month at the laundromat in town.
Out of the box the dryer seemed fine...looked in good shape. For some reason Magic Chef decided to put a 3 1/4" vent on the back....which matches NOTHING...went to several stores without luck, Home Depot had no connections for it...they suggested buying a 4" duct and cutting it, bending it and taping it...hmmm...
ok....it seems to work but its kinda hokey...the 4" hose doesn't fit behind the dryer so you have to crush it to get it to fit...we'll see how this holds up. But that's not the problem.
I installed the dryer, went to turn it on and the blower came on and drum wouldn't spin...at all....hmmm...
went to shut it off and it wouldn't shut off....had to unplug it....hmmm.....since it was a hassle to take it back and wait for another I pulled it down and took the back off....
guess what?....the belt was off....held on by a pulley tensioner....not sure how it got loose...probably got dropped.
Put the belt back on and re-installed it....it now seems to work fine......even turns off with the switch.....hooray...i'll let you know if it holds up.
It seems to dry the clothes fairly well on the hot setting.

I read the reviews and decided on this dryer to accompany my portable washer. I keep it on the counter top in the bathroom. It was easy to set up and gets my clothes dry. Just have to remember to clean out the lint after each drying session because it builds up. Also I keep the bathroom door open when dryer is in use because it gets pretty humid in my small bathroom.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mosie An amazing quiet compact dryer
Here is an additional point that I omitted from my previous review: you may wonder about the location of the controls. Note that this unit is set up to be wall mounted. Then the controls are in the right place. If the dryer is on the floor, the controls are very near the floor. Magic Chef has done a great job of constructing this system to be mounted on a wall. The dryer is very quiet as it operates on the wall-mount set up and is exceptionally sturdy. Everything is at eye level and makes for quick and easy use. I love this little dryer even though drying takes longer than with a standard energy-guzzling machine. Our photo shows the MC dryer and its matching MC compact washer set up in a tiny closet. If you have limited space these two machines are problem solvers.

Love this dryer. In a condo fits well in a small space. Very quiet when it runs even able to use outside venting.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Marcelo The worst machine ever!
I purchesed it and it didn't work. Dead, zero... A great desapointment! The worst came next when I called their costumer service... A cold-lemons voice woman atended me and sayed somebody would contact me for a visit... Nobody did that, so, I returned the item to Home Depot! Do not waste your time and money!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by clyde27055 Great Compact Dryer
I purchased this to replace a full size Dryer (Gave Out). Since I have laundry just for two people I looked into a smaller less expensive model. The Magic Chief Dryer looked good for it's Features, Size and Cost.
I have been using it for about a month and it works fine. I can Dry a nice Load of Underwear, Socks, Wash Cloths, etc. that will last Two people around Two Weeks between Washes and do a Load of Bath Towels for a Little over a Week between Washes. The Dryers runs fine with no problems and is Quiet Sounding.
I am impressed by how this Dryer Dries Clothing and ease of Cleaning the Filters.
This is a Great Dryer for Two People or someone who needs a Nice Compact Dryer of Quality.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by kd4hvz Unreliable - multiple failures in one year
This seemed like a great dryer that is small, runs on 115V, and has some neat features - until I owned it for a few months. Then the timer died after 6-months (covered under warranty but a few weeks of down-time). 6-months later the new timer died too. Now out of warranty a new timer is $32 if I put it in myself. Instead I bypassed the timer and then added an external timer to turn the power off to the unit. While dealing with the timer I discovered the fan belt was shot (barely over a year old) and had to special order a new one for $33. The exhaust port behind the drum was soo clogged it was restricting 95% of the air flow making the unit very inefficient and had to be disassembled and the grates cut out to get it clean and keep it from clogging up again. Overall it is a cute dryer but clearly poorly designed and built with unreliable parts considering I had four failures in one year (two timer failures, a belt failure, and clogged up exhaust port that required disassembly). I would never buy one again.
