We are restoring all the doors and trim in our 90 year old home. We were in desperate need of a finisher sander. After researching the various brands and products we settled on this one and have been very pleased (We also bought Model # BO5030K Orbital Sander to do more of the heavy lifting). We have now used and abused this product for over a year now. It has run literally over 100 hours and still going like it is new. Features I like:
*uses a standard 1/4 sheet - just rip the paper in quarters and put it on (dont forget to punch the holes for dust collection)
*Dust collection is decent, but I really like that the bag can be removed and shop vac can be connected.
*Paper is easy to attach
*Fits good in hand and has rubber for good grip
*The switch is sealed up so dust will not get into it (a problem with some other sanders)
Not a huge fan of the plastic box (I don't use it). Would have preferred a bag.
All in all, this sand runs great and gets the job done.

My sander (do not remember its brand, but I think it was Bosch) broke after 20+ years of faithful service, so I bought this one. So far I have used it to sand a table and it worked really well - actually, better than the one it replaced. It holds the sheets firmly and the dust collection works very well. I'm happy with this tool. I also have a Makita drill, which seems indestructible, after years and years of use - I hope this sander will also last me a long time. The storage box is a nice addition and contributed to my decision to buy this one.

Sander is light weight, does the job it was intended for and fits nicely in the provided case. The vibration (or lack thereof) is probably my favorite feature of this sander. Finished a bunch of interior trim with it, prepping for paint - considerably less fatigue then with my last name brand sander that recently died. Paper changes are about average, no easier/ no more difficult then a similar sander. Dust collection seems adequate, haven't had to play around with that yet. Would recommend/ buy again.

I have used this sander four or five times in the past month for various projects and have had absolutely no problems with it. This is the quietest sander I've ever owned. Makita brand never disappoints.

I bought this to replace a pad sander I've used for at least 30 years. I am impressed with the ease of installing the sandpaper sheets and how smooth it feels while I'm using it. (My hands used to tingle after I used my old one.) A couple of times I forgot to puncture the sandpaper sheet showing me how effective the dust control is. I also like the light weight. I'd buy another one if the need ever arose.

I had a Makita palm sander for years. It finally died so I replaced it with a new Makita palm sander. Within the first few uses the cloth bag developed a hole. Then where the bag meets the unit ripped, then the whole bag assembly wouldn't stay on! So I called their c.s. and they said they would send a new one out (it was too late to return to HD). They never mailed one as promised, I forgot about it. When I called a few months later they claimed to have no record of my call and that it was no longer under warranty!! Finks! Do not waste your hard-earned $$ on this brand! At Makita, quality appears to be optional!

Great sander. My hands do not get numb after sanding, like with a lot of sanders. The dust collection works as expected - collects some but not all dust particles.
