Get precise, accurate cutting and a splinter-free mirror finish, without the table saw. The Makita SP6000K1 6-1/2 in. Plunge Circular Saw with 55 in. Guide Rail work together to produce accurate cuts with minimal tear-out. The saw combines a powerful 12 amp motor and a large cutting capacity with magnesium components for less weight and electronic speed control to maintain constant speed under load for smooth cutting and a splinter-free mirror finish. Customer Questions & Answers

Do you sell the 118" rail?

Asked by: Didier
Dewalt and Festool do, but not Makita. I bought a second 55" Makita rail and the Dewalt track connector bar. It works perfectly with the Makita track. This is a much better option. An 8' track is hard to store, carry to a remote location, and subject to getting bent or twisted. With 2-55" tracks you are much better off in each of these areas, and for a lot less money..

there is a longer rail that is part of this system, is it available and if so how much is it?

Asked by: Anonymous
I do not think Makita makes an 8' rail, Dewalt and Festool do, and they are quite expensive. I bought a second Makita 55" rail and the Dewalt connector bar. I have the best of both worlds. Less money, much more portable and storable, and less prone to damage from bending or twisting. The two rails, connected, work flawlessly. Home Depot does not carry the rail to my knowledge. I went online to Tools Plus, and got the rail for $95 and the Dewalt connector bar for $17.

Customer Reviews

12-Amp 6-1/2 in. Plunge Circular Saw with 55 in. Guide Rail and Case is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Tool I spent a lot of time reviewing the Makita, Festool and Dewalt track saws. I selected the Makita based on price, since all 3 saws have nearly identical features. Surprisingly, the Festool only cuts 45 degrees to 1 7/16 depth, not good for 2" X stock. The Makita is extremely quiet, the cutline is perfect. It yields a polished edge ready for glue up, and ` no tearout on 2 sided veneer. Only the Makita has a scoring feature, where a button restricts the plunge to 1/16" to just score the top surface of your cut on 2 sided veneer. Then you disengage the feature and make the second full depth cut. Dust collection is nearly 100% effective if you attach a 1 1/2" hose to a shop vac. I thought my table saw was pretty clean when properly set-up for dust collection, but there is no comparison. The only wisp of dust I get is when I exit the cut. A scrap at the end of the cut would eliminate even this. The saw is so quiet you don't really need hearing protection. The tracks themselves are incredible. The cutline is EXACTLY where you position the track. The friction strips are so effective that I never use the clamps I paid over $30 for. Don't buy them, or the miter gauge until you put this tool through its paces. Quality of workmanship, cut quality, ease of use and set-up, dust collection, and accuracy are all FIVE STAR. I could not be happier with my decision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Saw but no accessories. I love this saw. It cuts a perfect line with no tear out or rough areas. Nice case for the saw but no case for the guide rail and it's fragile. My only complaint is that it did not come with the clamps or rip fence. You have to order them as accessories. I also ordered the 110-inch guide rail to cut 4X8 sheets of plywood. I may also get the dust bag. Makita never includes the accessories on any of their power tools, and they're pricey, so plan on some extra cost. The customer service and price from Home Depot was excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good saw works great with plenty of power and precision. Price is better than competition

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cuts good but bottom plate is not flat When I tighten the two bevel knobs the bottom plate bends and the saw rocks on the track. Cuts ok but it seems like a design flaw with the bevel adjustment. I am not sure if this will cause problems latter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product. Tried using right out of the box. It is easy to setup. I like the ease of adjustments. A lot better than carrying a portable table saw around. Now I can do home projects without having to setup other tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makita plunge/rail saw: great Great tool. Good quality, well built, much cheaper than others. Came with 55 in track saw and carrying case. On the down side, dust bag and hose adapter for shop vac not included: should be part of the kit. But all in all, great buy!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Am going to return this saw Just starting using the saw and every time I use it the wood burns and smells up the garage. I talked to Makita and they said that shouldn't, happen and I should return it to Home Depot which I will do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use and straight, clean edges A little expensive but works great. If your careful, you don't need to clamp it down. Ripping 4 x 8 sheets was always a task I didn't look forward to but not any more.
