I am a mechanic for a garbage truck fleet of 80 trucks. I bought this set and use it daily on everything. I have had it for two years now and one of the batteries have finally given up the ghost. I included a photo to show you what these two tools look like after two years of hard, industrial use. They look like they have been through a war but they always work and I am definately replacing these with new ones as soon as other battery dies or the tools finally don't work anymore. Buy them. You wont regret it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Santa Nice reliable around the house drill
They have a nice durable feel. Only knocked off a star because they both seem to kind of hesitate or spin intermittently/erratically on at low rpm. I bought them for assembly work because my <yellow brand> drills can be too heavy. Kind of defeats the purpose I bought them for but they are lighter weight and still feel solid and very well made. Wish Makita would replace the quick change bit holder on the impact driver with a keyed chuck so I can set it up to drill pilot holes while using the other drill and it's torque settings to drive the screws. Got the X-mas special and was happy enough to get another set for my sister.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GreenAirLogic This is a great buy for the price
I do air conditioning and have to carry my tool bags all day on my waist. Compare to the standard drills this is light on your waist. Plus it fits in the bags with out buying and extra pouch for the screw gun. The power is would enough for what I need and batteries last more than a day. I do a lot of screwing and some time I need it to tight nuts and bolts.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DLACPA When it fails prematurely, throw it away. Don’t waste your time trying to get warranty service.
I purchase a 10.8 volt set like this then one of the two batteries went bad and wouldn’t charge within a year.
Replacement batteries cost $49 so 2 batteries would make up 98 of the original 139 price.
My wife purchased this set (12 volt) and again one of the batteries went bad in 9 months of very infrequent use. I saw the warranty was for 12 months so I took the set to Slims power tools in Honolulu for warranty service. A month later the called and said my battery was in. When I went to pick it up they said the battery tested ok. Of course it was broken they just won’t honor their warranty.
So save your money don’t by this set. When it fails prematurely, throw it away. Don’t waste your time trying to get warranty service.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ronny Very good combo set but please make extended batteries!
I own now the Makita brand since quite some time and have a 18v Brushless combo set and now bought this 12v set as addition for the lighter work and tighter spaces.
I build commercial cabinets and use my drill/impact basically daily from 6a.m. till 4:30p.m. and screw several hundred screws, hinges and other things together.
So u can imagine I need something sturdy with a good battery life.
I love the Makita 18v set because of its power and battery life. I only have to charge the 3ah battery about once every week which is amazing but the weight sometimes is an issue so I love the 12v set.
The only issue with this is that there are no extended batteries for 12v Makita like Milwaukee carries for their M12.
I would love to buy some for my set.
Other then that I have to charge my batteries once a day there are no issues...that's why I only give 4 stars.

As service manager, my cordless drill is in use all day. Of course it has to reliable, powerful, durable and light weight. This Makita gives me all that plus a Li-ion battery! Couldn't pass up the deal-of-the-day! Nice job, Home Depot!!

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. The case was cracked on the top in two places and because there was no more in stock Home Depot gave us a gift card to cover the damage. He uses it all the time. I love it because it is lightweight and easy for me to use. He also has a Rigid 18 volt cordless drill but since getting the Makita I no longer see him use it. I bought it on the "deal of the day" sale so the price was great too. The only thing he didn't like about it was the case, he said it looked like a women's comestic case. But since it was broke he replaced it with a case more to his liking.
