Bought this amazing mitre saw recently. I must say it is so much more refined and versatile than my old Delta 10" compound mitre saw. Not to say that my Delta saw is no good, as it has given me many years of reliable solid service. Technology has come a long way since. The new motor is much quieter and with the electronically controlled speed and brake system, it is just a joy to use. Everything seems to be well thought out, as far as the design goes. Fine tuning it to specs is quite easy, as some adjustments were slightly out, probably through shipping. The other advantage is the stacked rail system which takes up much less space than the others.

This saw is not stocked in store, so must be ordered on line. Only took three days to ship. When received and assembled the blade wobbled. Turned out the arbor was not machined straight. I returned to the local Home Depot and they refunded my money except for the shipping. I will not order online from Home Depot again. Will buy products locally even if it costs more.

Bought this a few months ago. I'm constantly using this saw for outdoor projects and in-home remodeling. Features on this saw are hard to beat. Cuts large crown molding easily. The bevel is so handy. I did have to periodically re-adjust both the mitre and bevels. I mounted it on the Ridgid Saw stand with wheels as I found it bit heavy to tote. The standard blade is good but did buy a high quality finishing blade for trim work. All in all, a great purchase with a $150 powertool discount.

I really love this saw but If I would have known that the Dewalt came with a free stand I probably would have bought it... Any way of supplying a free stand for my new Makita or even perhaps a great deal. The Dewalt stand would certainly do. The DWX724 would suffice!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MisterIke This is a fantastic saw. I've used a few sliders before and upgraded from a 10" CMS to this one. The extra capacity offered by the retractable guard behind the blade is a nice feature, however, what really makes this tool shine is the quick and easy mitre/bevel angle and depth of cut adjustments. The facts that both fences can slide and that the motor is on an angle to the body, thus minimizing interference with the right fence, make using the bevel much easier than with other sliders.
I've had this one for two months now, not long enough to know how well the sliding mechanisms hold up, but plenty long enough to tell you that the mitre and bevel angles stay dead on accurate despite transport to and from the jobsite every day. This tool is a joy to use and cuts wood like a hot knife through butter. The factory blade is pretty good too. If you need to do precise trim work this saw is for you... however, if you're just doing decking and flooring, then a cheaper, non-sliding CMS should be sufficient.

Just got it, but if it's anything like my other Makita tools it'll last forever. Didn't take long to square the fence (might not have needed it), move the pointer a hair to "zero", and that was it. I like the dual rails, and like some others, I could feel a very slight rubbing sensation when pulling it forward to start a cut, but this is definitely not an issue. The mitre lock mechanism is the best I've found on any saw I looked at, and it stays rock solid.. The laser was preset dead on to the right side of the cut, needed no adjustment. Relatively light compared to some of the beasts I looked at, quality build throughout. Got it on sale for $433, and it would have been a great buy at the regular price. I put it on a Ryobi stand (which is also a great product), the only tweaking I had to do was cutting 1/2" off the front carriage bolts, as they were interfering with maximum mitre range.
Warranty's only a year, but I expect to never use it. My other Makitas are well broken in you could say, and they just get better....

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Idaho208 The best for our film company
We have a motion picture and sound company and there are no stores near where our sound stage and sets are. We ordered this saw for building sets and, with the stand, can move quickly through set lot . The crew loves this saw and says the fact that it is light with stand, able to maneuver it inside sets and outside through rough ground makes this a great product. No problems at all and Home Depot stands by their product and more important, by their loyal customers. My congrats to one of the best companies around. People count with them and that alone should get you to buy from them. We order everything we can through HomeDepot and we are big fans of Makita tools.

I was looking for a saw that had more travel than a 12" standard and less than a 12" sliding saw and this one is perfect. I will be using it for basic residential projects. I did not have any of the bearing issues that are in other reviews for this saw. All the features out of the box were very true and accurate and only required a couple minor adjustments. The instruction manual is horrific. I would recommend going to Makita's website and downloading the manual to your phone or tablet. You will them be able to zoom into the pictures which should help you tremendously. The English translation in the manual is terrible as well. You should be able to figure it out based off of the pictures alone once you zoom in. So far the stock blade is cutting clean and time will tell as to how it is.
