Very Happy with purchase. Best price I could find, fast shipping, no damage, and the Makita saw is exceptional quality. As a 30 year veteran carpenter I can vouch for the LS1221--holds settings, lightweight, durable, nice finish to base, minimal plastic, true cuts.

If you are a carpenter doing fine wood working like crown molding cabinetry and stair railings you won't like this saw. It does not cut true. The base is not true to the saw and the fence is a joke. Thought maybe I got a bad one sent it back and the new one is the same. If your a trim carpenter it would be OK but it won't cut very tall, Most 12" saws do a lot better .sorry makita your no longer the best.

I received this saw as a christmas gift from my wife and couldn't be happier with it.It was set nice and square right from the box and cuts good and accurate.I like that it came with the table supports and they work well with long stock, plus it also comes with a hold down clamp which comes in handy. This seems like a very well build, quality saw.

A well made miter saw. Have been looking for a new saw for several months. I purchased a different saw before this one from another big store after reading all of these wonderful reviews, and could see a sample of on at the store. It was a yellow miter saw, big mistake after opening saw at home never even lifted it out of the box. Found the motor housing was cracked in 2 places. the casing holding the motor blade and arm were poorly cast and unfinished. Returned item for a full refund. Found out most of the reviews were from 2011-2012. In store sample was better made than one in box. So I decided to spend a little more money $80 more and purchased this one online only from Home Depot. Had saw delivered to store for free, so I could inspect it before taking home. Wow this is a quality made product! Its solid well finished has metal scales. It came with a hold down clamp and extended material supports that are thick and sturdy. Everything was square out of the box no adjustments needed. Blade could use double the teeth, however it is making very clean cuts. Saw does not have a laser. I have never found a laser to be any help in making accurate cuts anyway. This saw is made sturdy enough to last a good 10-15 years.

This is a light weight, accurate, affordable saw for the professional trim carpenter. I would rather have makita over dewalt , hitachi,or any other saw.

I own a cabinetmaking business and I have a home that I have added on to and a workshop that I built myself and this saw was used whenever I needed a miter saw. It came out of the box in perfect adjustment and I have never had to readjust the settings. I have made thousands of cuts with it and it has been loaded in and out of the truck more times than I can count. I am very picky when it comes to tools, a good tool will pay for itself many times over and a bad tool will ruin your day and take money out of your pocket. I don't know if I got the best one of these saws ever manufactured but I love this saw because it has never given me a problem nor let me down. And yes, you can do fine trim and finish carpentry with a single bevel saw.

The saw was packaged very well. Took only a few minutes to extract from the box, and make some sample miters. It's a pleasure the way in jumps into the 45 degree slots, and the cuts are true. I've fiddled with squares and triangles on my other two miter saws and have never had results this good. This is my fifth Makita product, and it appears that it's going to continue the tradition.
