Good saw with lots of power. I would love it more if it were AMERICAN made. I and many of my fellow carpenters, have very old AMERICAN made saws and drills that we have put in new brushes and rewired. Please get the message Home Depot, we prefer American made tools.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mel Very good buy
The saw is extremely powerful and with a good blade it gives an incredible cut. It can cut a full 3 inches deep so cutting 4x 4 still took a second pass but that was expected. The power and kickback may surprise some people not used to this professional quality saw, so be warned. The light and dust removing feature a work well and are appreciated when working in dim light conditions. I would highly recommend this saw for the professional woodworker and experienced user.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by hunter56 Great saw for 6x6 lumber.
Purchased this saw for cutting 6" x 6" lumber. Cuts through material with ease. Depth of cut saves time since it can cut with two passes vs. cutting 4 times with a 7 1/4" saw. Saw runs smoothly and handles well. Makita makes another great product!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SmilinJim Even nicer than expected
I bought this saw because I couldn't make a clean cut in 6x6s to save my soul and I was starting on building a new deck for my house. I figured two passes and no hand sawing would have to be better. Little did I realize how much a fine machine like this would simplify the process. Now my cuts are much better than the lumber yard's.
The bonus is that I have not pulled my table saw out once since getting this. I am ripping like a madman now.
The saw is reasonably quiet and weighs just a bit more than my 7-1/4 Craftsman that I have had since the beginning of time. The adjustments are clearly marked and accurate. The LED light is pretty much worthless in the sun, but it does give good illumination at dusk when looking in to see the actual saw cut line.
Overall, I am really happy with this purchase.

Excellent saw. I bought it to cut 6 X 6 pressure treated timbers. It cuts easily in 2 cuts as opposed to the 5 cuts (4 with 7 1/4 saw, and final with reciprocating saw) which I had been using. A real labor saver. The brake is a nice feature as well.

I just bought this circular saw recently to do some project and I am amazed how good it is. The tool is very powerful and easy to work with. The extra features such as the led lights and the adjustable angels make it very easy for me to do my job. The weight is no so much to worry about since I am an average person and I can handle it very well. I just have this thing for a few weeks now and I am pretty much enjoying it. I am very excited about this tool and now since I enjoy having it so much I start to have more projects for me to do. Overall, it is a very good tool and I give Makita all the credit. Why spend your money on DeWalt while you can get the same quality with Makita with less money. I would recommend anyone bying this tool.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mike Saw is defective.
I have been using Makita since the early eighties and have
been very satisfied with the products quality and especially
its endurance. However, I don't recommend this product
because it does not cut three inches deep at 90 degrees.
When the saw is at its full depth part of the motor housing
is below the plate causing it to cut at a slight angle. So every time I use it I must make sure the motor is above the plate if I want a square cut. I can't recommend it because of this problem.
