The Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion 3.0 Ah Battery (2-Pack) charges faster and works longer than standard lithium-ion batteries, giving your cordless tools exceptional performance and productivity to take on the most demanding applications. The battery has a category-leading charge time of only 30 minutes, so it spends more time working and less time sitting on the charger, and also resists self-discharge so it's ready for use even after long periods of inactivity. It works with the Makita Rapid Optimum Charger (sold separately), a smart-charging system that communicates with the battery during the charging process to monitor current, voltage and temperature, which helps optimize battery life and deliver a faster charge. The charger also has a built-in fan to cool the battery for faster and more efficient charging, even in hot weather conditions. In addition, Makita's Star Protection Computer Controls allow the tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating.

Is this the new generation of Makita battery?

I'm wondering whether this is the newer generation of the Makita battery, denoted by a large embossed star on the top of the battery and a printed star on the label (near the recycle cicrle) on the bottom of the battery. Please let me know. Grant
Asked by: Grant
I don't believe these 3.0 amp battery's are the Star generation battery. I found nothing on the description of the 3.0 battery mentioning Star other than about the charger used. Also, none of the pictures show a Star logo on the battery. I believe this starts with the 4.0 amp battery and above. I have 7 of these batteries that I use for the work I do. Some of my Makita tools do not accept the newer battery. I have 2 of the 4.0 amp Star type batteries for the newer Makita tools.

I WANT TO BY ONLY ONE BATTERY, CAN I?

I WILL BY A Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 12 L.E.D. Flashlight (Tool Only), AND I NEED JUST ONE BATTERY.
Asked by: TAURINHO
Yes, you can purchase just one. In fact, the model number for a single battery is BL1830. The model number BL1830-2 indicates that the package contains two of the BL1830 batteries. However, you'll pay much more for your battery if you buy just one. A single battery runs about $100 while the package of two is around $160.

Seems to me that this product should be in stock all the time. Normally, when one needs batteries for their cordless tools, they need them quickly, and don't want to have to wait to have them shipped to the store/home. Other than that, these are great batteries. With constant use, I get about 2, 2.5 years out of them. I've left them out in the freezing cold, with no consequences.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Makita Purchased the 2 piece cordless combo kit a little over a year ago and the batteries (2.0)both died. I was not impressed with the new Makita 18 volt lithium batteries since my old 18 volt Dewalt batteries were still working over 3 years later. Anyway I chose to purchase the new 2 pack 3.0 Makita batteries and so far they work great. Just hoping they last a little longer then 18 months.

Great batteries, got them on sale 2 for $99, about half price so I bought 2 packs. Love the Makita products. Was a DeWalt fan before but the weight of their tools compared to Makita made it an easy switch. Used all day long every say.

The 2Ah batts have bout worn out, so these high capacity batteries last longer. Arm gets a bit more of a workout when using these high capacity batteries, during heavy use.
