We have been using Makita tools in our fence construction business for years and couldn't be happier with the performance, reliability, and durability. These tools take a real beating day after day and continue to work flawlessly. The batteries hold their charge for a very long time and recharge quickly. The carrying bag is perfect for keeping all the tools together and easily hauling them around. And now, the bag has wheels and a collapsable handle to make hauling them around even easier. As for the individual tools:
Variable 2-speed 1/2 in. hammer driver/drill: The keyless chuck makes changing out bits a snap. Two speeds and adjustable clutch help prevent stripping out screws. The ability to use it as a hammer drill makes working in masonry and concrete simple. The LED light on the front helps when the light is limited or shadowed.
6-1/2 in. circular saw: My favorite saw now. The blade is on the opposite side from most saws, which gives you a clear field of vision when making cuts. In addition, the cut guide on the front of the saw is dead on, so you know exactly where the cut will occur. Plenty of power for cutting through 2" boards.
Reciprocating saw: A work horse for sure. Very simple and fast to change out blades - just a quick twist at the base of the blade and out it comes. The shoe base is easily adjustable as well so you can move the saw to a portion of the blade that has not been worn out from cutting. We use it on wood and metal all day every day with no issues.
Variable speed impact driver: Plenty of torque for driving lag screws into metal or wood. Compact and light.
4-1/2 in. cut-off/angle grinder: Plenty of power for your everyday grinding needs. Comes with two different types of wheel guards, which is unique. One is for grinding and the other is for cut-off wheels. Balance in hand is good. Easy to change out discs and wheels.
4-position flashlight with xenon bulb: This is the only tool I have seen problems with. One of my flashlights would regularly turn off after a few minutes of use. Must have been a bad solder joint. Would like to see the xenon bulb replaced with a LED for even longer running time and a whiter light.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EGS65 Great tools at a good price
Batteries easy to and relatively quick to charge. Slide in and out of tools easily. Have used the drill and grinder and like all Makita tools work great. Being a battery tool, I was a little concerned that the grinder wouldn't have the power needed, but for the small job I did it seems to be powerful enough to do the job. Since I just received these a week ago I have not used the recip or circ saw, but because they are Makitas I will assume they are going to perform very well also. I have never had a drill with a light before, nice feature! I am a hobbyist, not a professional, but over all I recommend this set and all Makita tools.

I wish it had a multi tool instead of the flashlight and another battery or 2 and another charger . It would be fantastic if they made a alacart type tool package 5 tools x amount of dollars, 6 tools x amount of dollars. But as for what I bought Makita is the best in my opinion. I have used Dewalts and the triggers seem to go out on variable speed easily. Milwalkees seem to be weak and poor battery life. Rigids have a fantastic warranty but all that I have used of there's is the lower grade impact and drill and didn't care to much for them they were weak and poor battery life. I was torn between getting the rigid set of similar specs to the makita because of warranty and choice of tools in bundles .But in the end I couldn't risk the chance of not having what I know to be the best . And I would be remiss if I didn't say dewalts hammer drill in there cordless seems quite a bit better for drilling concrete to me but the trigger problem negated that for me and as for a corded 1/2" drill you could never beat a milwalkee hole hog the old 0-650 rpm were simply indestructible beasts. 30 years as a union carpenter believe me I abused some tools and have very strong opinions on alot of them

After being a Dewalt person for years I have been disappointed with their products lately. I have always been a big fan of Makita power tools so I thought I would give the cordless line a try. These things are Awesome! I would recommend them to anyone looking for new cordless tools. I like everything about them, function, ergonomics and battery life are all amazing. Don't be afraid to give them a shot, you won't be disappointed!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Vince You can't beat the bang for the buck
This is the second set that I have purchased. The only reason I had to purchase another set is that someone wanted my some of my tools more than I did.
I keep my tools on my work van and they are used quite regularly. The skilsaw does what it's supposed to do as does the recip saw. The flashlight throws a good beam and seems to stay lit forever. I use the grinder primarily with a cut off wheel, but I have put the thicker wheel on it to grind down metal. You won't be able to really put your weight behind it or it will over amp the motor. Let the tool do the work and it will perform as needed. The drill/driver does what it's supposed to. The impact driver is a beast and you will find that it can and will perform to your satisfaction.
The two batteries that you get with this kit are the key selling point. 3.0 amp/hours of capacity. The thirty minute charge time is an added plus.
Purchase this kit and do that math compared to other brands. It's really hard to get this many tools, two batteries, charger, and roll around tool bag for the price.
