Customer Questions & Answers

Can you use one hand or do you need two to use this saw? Some only require one hand to operate

Asked by: matt
The tool is well designed with two triggers. I believe this tool is designed to use with one hand. Any time you would need two hands to cut something you would be better off with a larger more powerful tool.

EMT pipe one inches and 3/4inches

I'm not an electrician but I would say this tool was designed to do just that. Easy and light to handle with one hand. A little light on power but can do that for sure.

Noise count/ dB on Reciprocating Saw

Let me know noise count following Makita Reciprocating Saw. Refer to the driver (XST01Z) Low Noise at 75 dB. 11 amp Model JR3050T, 15 amp Model JR3070CTZ, 18 volt Model XRJ01Z, 18 volt Model XRJ03Z
Asked by: Nick
I do not know the actual DB. We have a lot of machines we sell that are rated at 60dB, and were told by the manufacture that that is like a room full of people having a loud conversation. To me 60 dB is high. This saw is louder than 60 db, so maybe 75dB is right. You also might see an Doctor about your hearing loss.

I bought one of these about 3 years ago and returned it after one day of use. It didn't last for more than 5 minutes on a full charge, tried 3 different batteries. I needed it again today and decided to give it another shot. Bought a new one, put a half charged battery in it right when I got home and cut through old cast iron and brass pipes clogged full of rust and hardened gunk that took forever to cut. Then I cut all my PVC and it was still going strong. I either got a dud the first time around, or they improved the saw. Note that the battery I used was one of the same ones I tried with the previous saw 3 years ago, still going strong! Happy with the purchase this time around! By the way, the metal blade that came with it is not that great. Milwaukee 'Torch' blades are worth every single penny. 4/5 stars because I need to use it for a while at work and see if continues to hold its own. Will update (if I can) after a while of use.

I pulled it out once so far to cut a 2x2. Just a rough cut . No good. I couldn't get the blade to stay in a straight line. It does't move fast enough and makes it jump all over the place. I switched to a metal blade and still no good. I'll keep it but will probably not use it for any wood. I usually use sawsalls for hacking something off or cutting a rough hole, but all the things I though this would be wasn't. like the switch on the handle. Turns out its hard to hold that switch when your have a tough cut.

I tried 3 times, none of them lasted a week before the blade holder broke. If makita makes this tool with their standard saw tip in the future, i would try again. as it is its trash

I bought this Saw to cut ABS & PVC pipe in tight places (crawl space). Overall it does the job but I feel its underpowered. I only paid $79 at Home Depot for the tool so for the price I'll get some use out of it.
