I would recommend considering m12 hakzall by Milwaukee if one hand holding is your preference. I have both the makita and Milwaukee m12. I was very disappointed in this product but the Milwaukee is fabulous

It will work for a few pipes before it starts falling apart on you... They used tiny screws to hold the blade-holder assembly and start coming loose after only a little use.. JUNK!!

Answer:
If you have plenty of room, use a biger saw. If clearance is tight, this will do the job. As always, make sure you have a good quality blade. About the only "negative" I give the saw is it has a shorter stroke, so you'll be working the same spot on the blade over and over. Stick to a good Freud blad \e and you'll be fine.

I can't say for sure it will fit since many times they have a block on the slide so the batteries don't interchange but I'm sure that it would last very long since it's only a 1.5 amp hour battery.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Seriously Lacking power Lightweight and portable. very handy led light and dual trigger points a big plus. Lacks power to cut through pvc or emt. very light duty tool April 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Tool FOR A DIY Home Owner! There is plenty of power in this 18v unit to tackle most any DIY project. The small size makes it easy to get into tight space, like under counters and in walls. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best salzall Big one has been burned out and I bought this tinny one in place. Small and powerful. April 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for certain applications I was hoping that it would have more power but it seems that it was designed to cut in very tight spaces where you need control. Wish it was smaller but it does the job it was designed for. February 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Tool, but for the right job only! Nice and Compact, Egonomic for tight areas and like the auto feature to save on having to hold trigger...but would have expected a little more power from Makita...like the my Compact Impact Drill. This was supposed to replace my Ryobi, now I am going to have to get the larger one Makita makes...Makita overall is the best IMO in quality, ergos, and finish with the number of cordless tools available...but this one found me wanting more...Like I said for the right job this tool would be great but for an overall reciprocating saw it is underpowered. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love It! An awesome little saw! Hasn't seemed to be low on power either! Has 2 triggers so you can use it one handed. January 12, 2016
