I would recommend considering m12 hakzall by Milwaukee if one hand holding is your preference. I have both the makita and Milwaukee m12. I was very disappointed in this product but the Milwaukee is fabulous

It will work for a few pipes before it starts falling apart on you... They used tiny screws to hold the blade-holder assembly and start coming loose after only a little use.. JUNK!!

If you have plenty of room, use a biger saw. If clearance is tight, this will do the job. As always, make sure you have a good quality blade. About the only "negative" I give the saw is it has a shorter stroke, so you'll be working the same spot on the blade over and over. Stick to a good Freud blad \e and you'll be fine.

I can't say for sure it will fit since many times they have a block on the slide so the batteries don't interchange but I'm sure that it would last very long since it's only a 1.5 amp hour battery.

I pulled it out once so far to cut a 2x2. Just a rough cut . No good. I couldn't get the blade to stay in a straight line. It does't move fast enough and makes it jump all over the place. I switched to a metal blade and still no good. I'll keep it but will probably not use it for any wood. I usually use sawsalls for hacking something off or cutting a rough hole, but all the things I though this would be wasn't. like the switch on the handle. Turns out its hard to hold that switch when your have a tough cut.

I tried 3 times, none of them lasted a week before the blade holder broke. If makita makes this tool with their standard saw tip in the future, i would try again. as it is its trash

Rated 1 out of 5 by from garbage this thing fell apart after 2 months of light use,the tip that holds the blade is supported by two bolts which became loose and the whole thing fell off

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great tool I read the reviews and din not buy until I had a tight space I could not get the full size saw into. Many complaints were low power and vibration, neither of which ate valid.I found that this tool is solid with mega power. the vibration is due to the power, it is important to make sure the saw is held securely against the material and the vibration will vanish. I particularly like the two triggers which allow cutting in almost any spot or angle. this is a small tool fir small jobs, i still use the full size corded saw for my demo work so this is not this you want for big stuff but for tight areas, cutting pvc etc. you can't beat this little powerhouse. I demoed 11/2"-4" pvc, notched decking and cut drywall without any problems. if you know what you ate doing you will love this saw.

I bought one of these about 3 years ago and returned it after one day of use. It didn't last for more than 5 minutes on a full charge, tried 3 different batteries. I needed it again today and decided to give it another shot. Bought a new one, put a half charged battery in it right when I got home and cut through old cast iron and brass pipes clogged full of rust and hardened gunk that took forever to cut. Then I cut all my PVC and it was still going strong. I either got a dud the first time around, or they improved the saw. Note that the battery I used was one of the same ones I tried with the previous saw 3 years ago, still going strong! Happy with the purchase this time around! By the way, the metal blade that came with it is not that great. Milwaukee 'Torch' blades are worth every single penny. 4/5 stars because I need to use it for a while at work and see if continues to hold its own. Will update (if I can) after a while of use.

I bought this Saw to cut ABS & PVC pipe in tight places (crawl space). Overall it does the job but I feel its underpowered. I only paid $79 at Home Depot for the tool so for the price I'll get some use out of it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Makita put out what? I brought it home and tested it out. It could barely cut a 2X4 So I returned it and paid the $20.00 Diffrence plus my gas and time to upgrade to the Makita XRJ03 great by the way. love Makita Tools but this one got thrown back like a fish.
