Answer:
Obviously electric will always have more oomph than cordless, but as far as any other 18v/20 volt max, this thing is solid. I've cut cutouts in fiber cement board , notches in pressure tested lumber, and cut out old fiberboard siding with no problem. When you need an oscillating tool and don't want to screw with a cord, it's top notch

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 148 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent tool I bought this thinking i wasnt going to use it very much because i had the batteries and it would compliment the tools I allready owned. You know What? I was so surprised at how versitile the tool is for many tasks including fine cuts in tight areas.Cant imagine going to work without it now. February 22, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by If You Don't Have One Of These, You Need One!!! The oscillating multi-tool is a must have in anyone's tool bag, whether professional or DIY. These tools are akin to when the fax machine came out, everybody said they didn't see a need and after you have one for awhile you wonder how you got along without it. Uses the Makita 18 volt battery system and most blades on the market fit this tool. The quick change blade system is a nice addition by Makita as I have still have the earlier version which required a hex wrench to change the blade. The wide variety of blades will make just about any task a breeze. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This thing is a beast! I love this oscillator. I use dremel carbide blades with and it cuts anything. It nice that the tool has some weight to it because it helps with cutting. My buddy has a Porter Cable and it's a small little joke compared to Mikita. January 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great! I love the quick release for the blade change out. Great quality. Works great for cutting plaster, drywall, and wood. December 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makita cordless multi-tool Very good tool. Strong. Good battery life Blades a little pricy but does the job. April 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by New and Improved I waited for the new 03 model with the tool less blade change instead of the older 02 model. Same price. This is definitely on the heavy side but absolutely nothing that can't be handled. This is replacing an corded tool and so far has been great. I bought the kit form of this with hard case, 2 batteries, charger and seems a little pricey even after shopping around. I have been using Makita cordless professionally since 1983 and they have never let me down. December 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by exceptionaly good tool time saver no cords to roll out just grab the tool and cut what ever the job calls for February 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product Never used any multi-tool before. I'm finding that its worth having in my tool kit. Works with dremel blades with adapter. Tool less change feature is a must have. January 28, 2015
