Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Boston Makita Combo set
Makita drills have been my favorite since I bought my first one 30 years ago. This new set does not disappoint, light weight, torque to spare, comfortable grip, battery run time is outstanding. Was a little leery about it being compact size but size does not matter in this case. The smaller size has let it do jobs that may have been to tight for a traditional full size drill. In the start process of a whole house rehab, used it everyday, literally, has not failed to do anything I ask of it. By the way, this was a fathers day gift from my adult daughter, Michelle, thanks again.

Light weight and strong. Love the headlight that stays on for 10 seconds after drilling so you can see your work. Also love the side clip so you can hang it off your pocket if you need two hands. Very handy feature. No more dropping drill motors if your on a ladder. Only dislikes is using short bits your work is just inside the shadow of the headlight and there is no storage clip for extra driver bits. Still very happy with this tool.

This is the third set I have purchased. Being a general contractor I use the tools heavy. The charge time is excellent and the run time is very good. One unit is over 5 years old and still going strong.

The very first battery operated drill I bought was a makers a good 20 years ago at least Ithink it was, anyway I just retired it,it was tired. This new drill and driver is great I can only hope it last half as long as the last one. It seem to hold a charge just fine.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by boondock Just a heads up keep an eye out for the new model
The picture of the impact drill shows the new version (LXDT04CW), while the specifications states that it includes the old, now discontinued version (BTD142HW). I was confused by this and called Makita and they told me that the impact drill in the kit depends on if the store you buy it from sold out of all the discontinued impact combo kits because they don't ship the new ones to stores until they sell out of the discontinued model (without lowering its price or changing the model number of the combo kit). The box does not state that model number of the impact drill inside it, but you can tell which is inside it by looking at the max torque. The new version is 1420 in/lbs while the discontinued model was 1280 in/lbs. So if you care whether or not you get the new impact vs the older discontinued model, make sure to check the box.

This drill has good torque — lots of drilling and driving power in a more lightweight tool than the Ni-Cad drill I replaced. It's a nice bonus to get the impact driver as part of the kit. I thought I would have preferred a hard case, but the soft-sided case is well-made, seems durable, and has lots of nice built-in storage pockets for drill and screwdriver bits.
