Is this unit wall mountable?

Asked by: Revlusn
You could ,you would need a heavy duty shelf that could handle the weight.. the good news I have mine on a shelf and there's virtually no vibration to worry about "walking off the shelf"

What diameter rubber hose does this take?

Any size you want from 1/8" up. you would just need to get necessary adapter fittings to allow connection to compressor.

Ordered this compressor online from HD, it arrived 1 week later, no damage. After break-in the compressor had an air leak, the pressure switch would cycle on after 15 minutes of no use. Sprayed soapy water but no leak could be found or heard. I can live with this . The compressor stays in my garage, never left out in the weather. After the warranty expired the compressor would not build over 60 psi, it just stayed running. So I took the compressor head off to find both the inlet and exhaust plates bad. This is where it gets interesting, The owners manual shows the unit assembly and part numbers so I ordered the parts for the compressor rebuild. Everything except the inlet seat is correct. I sent back the wrong seat 3 times then called a Mikita Authorized Service Center. They could not figure out why I kept getting the wrong part. I took the inlet seat to work and re-built the reed and seat myself. I also found my air leak, the tank check valve was not sealing correctly. I took this to work and machined the brass seat correctly. Reassembled the compressor and now it fills faster then new. It also holds air for four days before the pressure switch kicks on. Now I have the compressor I wanted when I bought it.

It recovers fast but does not have a lot of volume. In most cases this would not be a problem. It was a little slow for some larger framing and roofing jobs. For trim work it would be excellent and is very quiet. I would recommend this product it is well made and rugged, although a little top heavy. Top heavy was only a problem when transporting but a strap or bunggie solves this problem.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Switch issues Owned this compressor for about 6 months and have only a few hours use on it. Now, it doesn't turn on and looking at online blogs see that this appears to be an ongoing problem with this model. Under warranty but still a pain to have to take it to the repair center. Luckily I have other compressors to use. I was thinking of replacing one of my older twin tank compressors with a twin tank Makita but now I'm more than a little hesitant.

I live in an apartment and needed a QUIET compressor to keep a tire aired up and to blow stuff off on occasion. I wouldn't try to run any tools with it for any length of time, but it's perfectly satisfying the needs I have for occasional air.

Like all of Makita air compressors this one is strongly built and I'm sure will last many years. I purchased 5 or 6 of them in various sizes at my job ,they all have greatly outlasted the cheaper " Pancake" models we all have relied on over the years. This unit sets on my indoors work bench (Another larger one in the garage) it is as quiet as they say it is and again I liked the idea of a compressor with oil lubrication . After the two hour break in ,I followed directions and drained the break in oil out and put royal purple synthetic compressor oil in it ( available at Amazon) it runs with no vibration ,I'm not kidding ,partially because of well engineered rubber feet and its high quality design and manufacturing. The carry handle works great it is heavy and if you are going to lug it up a ladder eat your cherios . My advice after several years of buying air compressors (worked 53 years and I'm now retired) if you can afford a little more buy any of the Makitas ,,,high quality, dependable, quieter, long lasting
