Does this Model do the same that Model BO5041 3 amp 5 in. Corded Random orbital sander?

I'm trying to figure out if this sander does the same thing than the sander Model BO5041, because one states is for Finishing and other says Disc sander. ..
Asked by: Fredyg
Both the BO5031K and B05041 are Random Orbit Sanders. Yes the Makita BO5031K and the Makita BO5041 will perform the same functions. The BO5041 features a rear and front handle.

Can the dust port be connected to a vacuum hose?

Given my experience with other Makita tools, I am inclined to buy this today, but my old (20 years) Makita finishing sander cannot be adapted to a vacuum, and dust collection has become a critical issue for me. I have reviewed the owner's manual posted here. It explains the use of the dust collection bag, but does not indicate whether the port can readily be connected to a vacuum hose.
Asked by: lilrabbit
Makita BO5030K 5” Random Orbit Sander has a rubberized grip for increased comfort and efficient through-the-pad dust collection system. The BO5030K can be used with the dust bag included or a dust collection system. The port outside diameter (OD) is 7/8” and the inside diameter (ID) is 5/8”.

Had what appears to be an identical Makita which I used for many years. Finally wore it out and replaced it with this unit. I loved my original Makita Orbital Sander. This new unit operates beautifully. I'm sure I'll get many years of excellent use out of it. The features I like about this model are: the variable speed (can tone it down for more delicate sanding) and the palm sanding design. The models with the front and rear handles are fine for flat work, but to get into corners in cabinets, drawers and confined spaces the palm design works best. it sands so nicely you don't need the handles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought this based on a recommendation. I am not a bit disappointed. It is very efficient (hardly have to hold on to it) and it does not leave any scratch marks, even with 60 grit. I like the variable speed feature.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product I bought variable speed random orbital sander for surfboard repairs. The collection bag does a nice job of minimizing dust in the work space, however it needs frequent cleaning to be efficient and the speed must be set close to max. The variable speed is a must to match speed and application. I cannot comment on the durability and longevity as I only used this product a handful of times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am Very Happy with the Makita Model # BO5030K 3 Amp 5 in. Corded Random Orbit Sander. The Makita Model # BO5030K 3 Amp 5 in. Corded Random Orbit Sander has made the job so much easier. I am not a pro and can use all the help I can get on my projects. It is a real pleasure to operate. I did not know this, but I have found out it is much better to drop the speed on the finish sanding work. Very easy to do. I made 2 picture frames 21 x 21 and their appearance is much better... The Hook and Lock system is very easy to deal with.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Buy if You Want an Aggressive Sander I already own a Mikita finish sander and was looking for a sander that was a bit more aggressive, specifically an orbital sander. This sander performs very poorly in removing wood, even with 60 grit paper. I returned the sander as I believed it was not functioning properly. I was told by a Makita product supervisor that the sander was functioning the way it was supposed to. He said this is really a finish sander and is supposed to be used to fine finish wood. Now I own two finish sanders and need to shop around for a sander that will complement the finish sander I already own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective Mine was defective, wobbled crazy-like, clearly broken from the start. Didn't work properly. Sent is back and got a Milwaukee, which turned out to be fantastic.
