Trades of all kinds are turning to oscillating multi-tools for a full range of applications, and the Makita Multi-Tool (TM3000CX5) combines power and performance with comfort and convenience features like reduced vibration and lower noise. The TM3000CX5 is ideal for cutting, sanding, scraping, grout removal, and more. The TM3000CX5 is powered by a 3.0-amp motor with soft start for smooth start-ups. The variable speed control dial (6,000 – 20,000 OPM) enables the user to match the speed to the application, and the electronic speed control maintains constant speed under load for smoother, higher-quality work. Similar to the 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Multi-Tool, the new TM3000CX5 has a 3.2 degree oscillation angle engineered for faster, more aggressive cutting and sanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect tool for many uses I've used this tool for the past week or so to remove laminate flooring and baseboards, as well as remove grout and thinset. It works like a charm. The manual floor scrapers for laminate (or other glued down) flooring work but will start hurting your hand after 30 or so minutes, and they take quite a long time. With the Dremel rigid scraper (this tool is compatible with any OIS accessory and includes adapters, so Bosch and Fein are good too), I took out about 80 square feet of laminate, adhesive and all, in about an hour or so. For baseboards, the included plunge cutter accessory means no more accidental holes when removing baseboards and trimming. You literally go flush with the wall and flush with the floor, and then the piece is ready to remove with a little prying (not close to the force needed with manual tools). On top of that, it's the whole piece, so it can be reused if you want. For grout removal, I used the Bosch 1/8" grout removal tool on 1/4" grout. It's a little maneuvering, but far better than the manual equivalent. It's a bit dusty, but nothing a paper mask won't handle. The same goes for the rasp tool (Dremel) to remove thinset under the tiles. Once the grout is gone, a hammer and a chisel designed to be hit by a hammer make quick work of tile removal. The tool quickly smooths out bumps and otherwise left over adhesives. I bought the electric version because the battery version of the same thing costs twice as much and lasts 15-20 minutes between charges. When replacing a few hundred square feet of tile (bathroom and front entry way), that's just lost time. I'll deal with a cord instead of a recharge. February 8, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best of the bunch If you are looking for this type of tool, this is the best. Its a specific tool for a few purposes. I dont feel its sanding ability is that good. (Use a profile sander) However as a cutting tool this thing is great. Its a must for installing hardwood floors so you can undercut door casing (so flooring can fit underneath). Its also great for plunge cutting in wood or drywall. With a little skill, plunge cuts can be made into installed trim pieces or other wood that needs to be straight. (You can avoid pulling the piece off to use a chop saw) A really great tool if you need it and know what you are doing. The cordless version is a waste, in my opinion, as the tool will outlast the batteries by decades. November 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Remodeling my condo with this and it's great! Lots of applications, good feel in the hands, little vibration, very loud on certain applications such as removing drywall. The plunge blade feature alone makes this a tool worth owning. You can see this tool in action by clicking the video to the right. August 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by All around great Bought this from the depot. This Makita is great. Powerfull, most powerfull of all competitors. Low vibe, can use it as long as you like and doesn't shake your hands off, actually quite comfortable for a long use. Low noise level. Competitor products are so loud you need noise headset. Not this. It has the max cut angle i.e. the cutter head moves back and forth to 3.2 degrees back and forth. Competitor pruducts much less, like 2.4 or 1.5. This is probably the best of all manufacturers. It was about $50-$60 more than some entry level units but i don't regret it one bit. This is so nice compared to others. Only negative with Makita is only give you one blade. But other units that give you a lot of blades have two issues one the blades are junk and two they charge you for a bunch of blades you wont use or need for a long time. I rather put my money into a great tool and buy after market quality blades that I need when I do a job! Also some want the quick blade change feature that a few machines have. Makita uses the allen tool to secure the blade. This to me is no problem and I will tell you why. When you pick up one of these tools on occasion to do a job it is a specific job. That is to cut something or scrape something or remove grout or sand. Not do all those things at one time. So when you do a single job you spend 20 seconds putting on the required blade for the job. A few competitors have issues with blades coming loose. Not gonna be an issue with the Makita. Makita also gives you two adaptors for multiple competitor blades. They give you the sanding back pad, sand paper. The Makita comes standard with the OIS blade adaptor system. Can do precision cuts too. Love it. Glad i put the extra into the tool. I will be glad every time I use it. September 12, 2012
