Customer Questions & Answers

How many paver cuts can you make with one blade

Asked by: jim
I keep this blade on a grinder for tiling. I've made at least a thousand cuts with it in the last year in porcelain tile and natural stone. I've even used it to cut 1 1/4 granite slabs. The thing just keeps going and going. If you need a precise number for contracting purposes, that's very difficult to say, but if you just need to know if you can do a walkway with this one blade...you can probably do a dozen.

Can i use it to cut 2 eanch granite for kitchen sink ??

Asked by: Alf
Cutting out an exact piece out of of stone slab to install an undermount sink beneath it and then polishing the edges is a rather complicated procedure that requires quite a bit of specialized equipment. While you can cut a stone slab with this blade, it won't be a neat cut.

Can I use this blade in 6 1/2 Makita 18V Circular Saw?

need to build a small retaining wall - so need to cut several blocks
Asked by: Anatoli
e do not recommend cutting concrete with a circular saw specifically engineered to cut wood. For concrete cutting applications, we recommend the 7.5 Amp 4-1/2 in. Corded Paddle Switch Grinder with Aluminum Case, Diamond Blade and Grinding Wheels (9557PBX1).

I've used this blade a handful of times for small tile cuts and have had nothing but a good experience. It helps if you have a second set of hands available to work a vacuum right by the blade, otherwise you'll be dealing with a dusty mess. But as far as cutting, it gives a clean cut with smooth edges. And it took little to no pressure to get through ceramic tile. Just used it yesterday to cut a hole for an outlet box in the bathroom. First tried with a carbide dremel multi-tool blade, got nowhere. Remembered I had this blade in the garage and had the cuts done in less than 2 minutes.

I purchased this blade to dry cut and trim granite tile with my Milwaukee 4 1/2" grinder. The blade worked well on initial use, but wore fairly quickly making progress increasingly slow. Based on the higher purchase price and my experience with other brands, I would rate the Makita blade as just being average.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Long lasting tough blade The Makita 4-1/2 in. Turbo Rim Diamond Blade used on masonry with an angle grinder to cleanup brickwork around the garden where I built a small boarder. You should definitely wear safety glasses and gloves with this blade as sparks were flying. The blade is tough and didn't show much wear after an hour of use. It fit my Porter-Cable angle grinder just fine with a 5/8” arbor. The blade did get hot and has holes cut around the perimeter below the cutting edge I suspect for ventilation. Overall very satisfied with the blade as I've used other types which worn faster.
