I bought this compressor and like it. The one thing Makita left out of the papers is a picture of the unit with an arrow to each item mentioned in the owners/startup manual. It has a parts breakdown sheet that is useless to an everyday owner. Things that Makita did not give a clue to where it is located are......
Pressure switch unloading valve, on/off switch. where to add oil to crankcase, drain cock valve, oil filler plug, air filter, thermal overload protector manual reset, etc., etc.
This oversight could be corrected with one page in the manual. A picture with the things mentioned in the owners manual has been included with every tool I have purchased. Yes I called Makita and was told the picture I ask for was not available.

Needed a new compressorcompressor. After a month of reading reviews and deciding what I really needed on a daily bases,I decided on the Makita MC5200. I have had it over a month and it has been great so far. It is very quiet compared to many others and my old one. Refill is fast but it is only 5.2 gals. I do wish it was closer to 10 but i have learned how to work with this just fine. I like the compactness of it. Easy to move around although that doesn't happen much.
I have a farm but have cut way back on alot of things i did before so didnt feel i needed anything bigger and so far it has done what i need.
I would highly recommend this product for those who need to fill tires, blow off medium size items, and run small power tools. It doesn't handle large ones for very long before you have to let it refill.
So if you want a nice quiet, compact ompressor you cannt beat this one, especially for the money.
Four stars only because size of tank

I don't have many hours on it yet, but it works flawlessly. And the quality is great. It charges fast and holds at 140psi. I returned a Dewalt for this one and glad I did. One of the reasons I returned the Dewalt is, it wouldn't start up on a slightly loaded 15 amp circuit. This one seems to have a softer start and runs perfect sharing a 15 amp circuit. It is a little on the heavy side, but it has wheels. And it's a air compressor, it's not going to be lightweight for this size. So, I wouldn't deduct a star for that. I don't foresee any problems, but if I have any I will update my review.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by maxedout really nice unit/price point
had to buy one for the field so after checking a lot of units i decided on this one primarily for one reason--cfm--cubic feet per minute.
this is the primary reason you want an air compressor in the first place if you're a professional. it fills up fast and can keep up a lot better than the most common units at this price point. i've seen them with a lot less cfm's at a higher price.
at the time i was also looking for a compressor with overall dimensions that would fit into my 2013 ford fusion trunk. i cut off the hose hooks on the handle so once it folded down it fit snug and still left room for small tool box between unit and the back of the trunk. weight is manageable but could be lighter, with magnesium motor parts maybe.
has a storage shallow compartment just above the gauges for your fittings, rags or whatever. once on the ground, you can fold up the handle and it works like a dolly.
now i have my truck so i can weld the hooks back on.

I'm quite pleased with the MAC 5200. Mine came with rubber tires and study steel wheels. So, I have none of the previously reported issues with bent rims, etc. The axle also seems sturdy. The compressor cuts in and out when it's supposed to. It is a little loud; but, not overly so. The large-bore cast piston/cylinder walls that allow for the specified 6.5cfm flow rate @ 90psi make the unit heavy. I knew that going in. With a 50' hose and other items in the accessory compartment, lifting it into and out of my F-150 requires some effort. (I'm going to get some ramps.) A very small amount of oil does make it's way into the air stream. Although I would guess all compressors that require oil have this issue, I'm hoping the amount of vaporized oil decreases after a longer break-in period. Eventually, I plan to put synthetic oil in it to prolong its life.
Although I use the compressor primarily in my garage where I have a 20amp circuit, I've run it on a couple of different 15amp circuits without issue.
I have yet to purchase and try the compressor with impact or other high-volume tools. I plan to do so in the future. Assuming it does indeed generate 6.5cfm @90psi with a duty cycle of 50%, I foresee no problems with tools that fall within its capacity.
I bought the compressor on sale and would purchase again.

Happy with my purchase. Replaced an old 1 h.p. Central Pneumatic that still runs, but i needed something to run an air ratchet wrench and a few more air hungry tools i might find myself needing now.

So far this has been a great compressor. A lot of the reviews that I read mentioned how loud the 5200 is, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't that bad. Although it's not typically what I look for in a compressor, the flip up handle, hose wraps, and little storage compartment have really come in handy. For a larger portable compressor, this thing is very easy to move around.
