Pretty nice tool from reputable manufacture for small money. Just what I needed for various projects when battery operated drills aren't enough. My first project for this power drill was holes in the quartz. It worked great. My only complain is that trigger tends to stuck causing motor to rotate very slowly. I wonder if anyone else encountered that problem? It is not a deal breaker for me, but obviously the tool design or assembly is not flawless.
I own it too short to speak about longevity of this drill but I trust Makita.

I bought this drill at the local store. I had just came across two jobs that needed it:
1. because I needed a very powerful cord drill
2. I needed a drill larger than the standard 1/2" chuck.
Other than the heavy duty commercial drills I've owned and used, this is one of the best hand drills that I used so far. The price is right and the the brand too.
Only time will tell about the durability.

I have owned this tool since 2010. It is good for small home projects. I loved it for the hammer drill capability. I would not buy if I needed this on a daily or weekly basis. It won't take the beating. I noticed that it started to smell electrical when I used it over the summer to mix stucco. I just fried the brushes in it mixing a small amount of concrete. I will buy another Makita but will be buying a better version.

The chuck wouldn't hold tightly enough and the bits kept slipping. To HD's credit; they took the return and marked it defective.
The other Makita tools I own are great, but not this one.

Used twice for hammer drilling 3/8" anchors, stops working, not covered because I don't have a receipt. Probably a hung brush and I will fix it if I can.

I bought one and on the first hole I tried driling it burned up the motor, I was drilling through 1/2 in steel. I also noticed that I had a very hard time getting the chuck to tighten. I took it back and they replaced it. I have had the new one for about three months and although it hasnt burned up yet I have a very hard time getting the chuck to tighten. It comes loose basically every time I try drilling anything. Last week I went and bought the Milwalkee and for only $20 more then the Makita it is much better,
