Customer Questions & Answers

Can this be used as a cut off tool for bolts?

Just wondering if discs are available that would allow the tool to cut off bolts that are too long. Thanks
Asked by: Buckle

Are there accessories you can purchase

I had a similar grinder for many years and was able to use sanding disks. This grinder came only with a grinder head and no pad to put behind the sanding discs. My old Makita had the sandpaper backing disc, but even though the head is the same size, it doesn't fit. Thanks

I believe the armiture is the same on this as it is on most standard grinders. I dont believe you should have a problem using other brand sanding disks on this particular grinder

6 Amp Corded 4 in. Angle Grinder with Case is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Deal Great Price. I didn't realize how hard it would be to find a good quality four inch grinder. The reviews on other products steered me away from them until I found this Makita which was highly regarded. I like the case and I like the cord which is very flexible. I don't think you can do better for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacing My 20 Year Old Makita This unit is replacing a 20 year old Makita grinder that I purchased years ago. It seems to have most of the same features as the old one. This unit does have a larger motor and is larger overall as well. In general it is not too heavy, but is larger than my old unit which makes it a little more difficult when accomplishing tasks like cutting roof tiles with a diamond blade while up on a roof. For the other typical things, like grinding your ax, or taking down metal, this works really well. I think you would be happy with this unit if you're looking for something small, and versatile, but effective.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from older versions of this model did not hold up for long I have owned 2 older versions of this same model, and either the commutator bearing froze or the armature burnt out and the arcing melts the case. And I use compressed air to clean out the dust after each use as recommended. Trouble is MAkita has the weakest 1 year warranty of the bunch, and that is about how long this model held up. Other trouble is MAkita has one of the only 3/8 " arbor grinders out there and I still have a large selection of discs and wheels to fit this size. Rock and HArd place I am between.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works for what I need. I'm using it as a multi purpose tool to cut drywall, metal pipe etc with the cut-off blades. If I had to do it again I'd get a 4 1/2 " tool. A 4" right angle grinder can't cut as deep as a 4 1/2 and the blades don't last as long. this one will get into a tighter spot though. Still, it's done what I need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good for light duty work. I do recommend this product to any home owner but I think it is not heavy duty enough for contractor work. The metal casing heats up quite a bit after 10 minutes of continuous use. I think it is great for jobs in your garage or knowing that you have a grinder in your arsenal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product I have no issues with this angle grinder except the fact that I was using the grinder to cut the stucco and aluminum fin from old windows. I would say if they had a 4 1/2 inch get that one the 4in was good but hard to reach the aluminum fin causing me to run through cutting disks like nothing. I ended up buying a Ryobi 4 1/2 that I like a lot better then this grinder. The Ryobi has move ergonomics built into it the back handle twist to allow you to to cut at all angles. The handle also allows for the disk install/removal key to be stored there which is great for me because with the this grinder I was always search for were I sat the key down. I will say the difference between the two is RPM, because with the makita grinder I never was stopped and the Ryobi it got stuck a couple of times. So, it depends on what you are using it for, but dependability wise this tool is great!
