No this saw will cut about 2 1/2 in. At 90 if you want to cut 4x4s you will have to get a 10 in blade miter or sliding miter saw

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great saw Best saw I have used in 14 years on the field, excellent accuracy, miters and miter coumpounds are smooth as glass with this saw, very light weight and powerful motor but quiet compared to other brands. Also the dust bag contains 90% of dust, and the blade it came with works great for finish carpentry ,I have had used on windsor one 8" baseboard, 5"cronw molding , casing trimboards, shoe molding , baseboard cap and so far no complaints but if you intend to use it on hardwoods I highly recommend a better blade February 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great saw and helped save alot of gas $ and space I sold my truck this year and can no longer transport my 12" compound slider...I looked everywhere for a more portable miter saw....there really is not much out there smaller than 10" with any kind of durability and accuracy (which is important with trim carpentry). I have cut 2x material, oak flooring and trim with this miter saw and works wonderfully. This saw has everything I was looking for...small, portable, accurate, easy to adjust, catches alot of the saw dust...only downside is are the 7.5" blades are hard to find....however the saw will accept 7.25" blades and the depth is easy to adjust. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS SAW!! September 7, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great quality and performs as advertised This product was purchased to replace a hand-me-down saw that was given to our volunteer, nonprofit organization which helps low income and senior citizens maintain their home. The saw operates smoothly and enables volunteers to cut the sizes of lumber usually used in our projects. Using this Makita saw has added an additional level of efficiency to our work. Very satisfied with the saw and the way it operates. May 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All around great saw I was looking for a miter saw, and then we got this one at work. After using it a few times, I had to get one. Its highly portable, light weight, and still has the capabilities of a much larger saw. The dual sliding arms allow for large cuts on a small saw. Overall, I am very happy with this saw, and would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a compound miter saw. February 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great small drop saw Very accurate..., Compact Good for 2x4, small molding etc July 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best slide compound saw on the market I am a cabinet builder and a custom remodeler by trade. My miter saw is a crucial part of my tool arsenal. I currently own 5 miter saws. 10"Dewalt chop, 10" Dewalt slide compound, 12" Dewalt slide compound, 10" Rigid chop, 10" Hitachi Chop. I have also owned and used a variety of other miter saws. In 30 years of woodworking I have yet to find a miter saw I was completely happy with".........UNTIL NOW.......THIS saw is unbelievable! It is accurate, smooth, super light weight, cuts 13" wide in a single pass, can be used in a radial arm saw manner to produce dado cuts...the list goes on and on. The main reason it is SO accurate and smooth is the smaller 7-1/2" blade. Most 10" & 12" blades deflect while cutting resulting in chatter and uneven cuts, especially in crown mouldings. I would HIGHLY recommend this saw to any professional wanting to achieve superior results without the frustrations caused by most saws. It might seem pricy but it is well worth the cost if you are meticulous about your work. Mike Red Lion, PA December 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A nice compact miter saw I like this unit because it's light weight (portable) and can cut most any piece of wood stock commonly encountered. Does a nice job cutting aluminum stock too. December 18, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by perfect saw perfect miter saw in its class i wish it has a laser guide. November 13, 2012
