The Makita 5007MG 7-1/4 in. Magnesium Circular Saw features highly durable magnesium components and a powerful 15-amp Makita-built industrial motor. The 5007MG seamlessly balances weight, power, durability, and ease of use, making it the most refined circular saw on the market. A built-in dust blower clears the line of cut for more accurate and precise cuts. The 5007MG is built for framing walls, floors and roofs using a range of dimensional lumber and dense engineered lumber, including LVL, PSL and I-Joists, headers, and microlams; as well as ripping panels such as plywood, OSB, particle board, and dense structural panels. Other applications include plunge and bevel cutting, as well as masonry and metal cutting.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 40 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by No regrets.. Great saw at a good price. Cuts through 100 year old Fir 2x4s with ease. This is one of the tools that made me a fan of Makita. October 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Don't underestimate the value of a light saw! We are in the middle of a basement renovation and builidng a large deck in our backyard. Our old circular saw was not up to the job. We needed something that was going to be light and reliable. We have not been disappointed. Cutting 4x8 sheets of plywood, pressure treated lumber and composite decking material - this saw has handled it all with ease. We have been especially happy that this saw is so lightweight since we have had to do a lot of cutting on the deck while the boards are in place. We'd recommend this saw to anyone. June 11, 2008
Rated 5 out of 5 by Graham (Cabinet Maker) This is by far the best all round circular saw on the market. The power to weight ratio is incredible, and the accuracy of cut is unmatched. I have used all the big name saws out there and have found this one has put them all to shame. Makita has really put a lot of thought into this machine with the easy angle adjustments and the fact that you can adjust the pitch of the blade to the shoe from underneath so your cuts are always accurate. I have used this saw for furniture making and also deck and fence building and it handles even the hardest and wettest of wood with ease and no binding, way to go Makita. This saw is a must for any serious carpenter or D.I.Y. person it won't ever let you down. Get it from Home Depot because the price is good too. But like everything in life you only get what you pay for but at this price its a bargain. January 10, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by The perfect saw for any jobsite Have been using this saw for about 4 months now for concrete forming and I must say it is exactly what i've been looking for. Saw cuts as good or better then any saw i've ever used, switchs to all angles with ease. Extreamly light weight and small, aka very easy to store. I've used the top dewalt, bosche. ryobi skill saws and this is my fav that I have used to date. I recommend this to anyone in need of a circular saw. May 27, 2008
Rated 1 out of 5 by Mine was defective This was my first circular saw, but I hardly used it. I thought it was something I was doing that was wrong, but I couldn't get a straight cut with it past a few inches and would use a jigsaw instead. I took a closer look at it, measuring the distance from the blade to the sides of the base plate and found out there was a 1/16" difference from the front of the blade to the back. So the blade wasn't exactly parallel to the plate. I swapped blades and had the same results. Fortunately, Home Depot took it back over the 90 day period and gave me a store credit. Here are some prejudices I had against this saw: • seems TOO light (but that might be what you're after), easy to veer off course • has stickers displaying the measuring marks on the base plate that may peel or get damaged over time, instead of engraved notches • blade guard seemed troublesome; would sometimes catch the piece I was cutting, especially with beveled cuts, throwing my line off if I wasn't on top of it • no adjustment options to correct base plate if it isn't parallel with saw blade (other reviewers of the saw made note of this as well) • even though I strive to take good care of my power tools and mostly work from home, I noticed other people (on online reviews) have commented that Makita saws aren't as durable as other brands -- that this saw seems like it belongs in a "velvet lined" case • I feel I should've opted for the one that has a brake on it and a saw with a narrower base for more room when making cuts. After returning the saw and looking around town, I ended up getting a Makita 5007F (very basic, precise, retro looking). It didn't come with a case or rip guide, but it cuts very straight! I cut 2 pieces of wood with the same measurements and they were identical, clean edges, as if trimmed with a router. I found it surprising that a saw $50+ cheaper would do a better job. I don't knock Makita for the defect (I have several other tools by the company that I like using a lot), I'm sure all companies have their lemons. December 2, 2014
