As stated in the product name, they are designed for use in an impact driver, which is much more demanding than a mere rotary drill. I use them in a rotary driver and they last forever.

I used them in a drill driver Makita 18V XFD01, but had to replace them after about 30-40 screws, as the bits got dull. I was using it to drive 3" decking screws.

It will work in both, but where a regular bit / bit holder...would fail under the severe loads of a impact driver, these were designed for such.

Answer:
Impact Gold accessories are designed to work in both impact drivers and drill drivers. Impact Gold accessories are machined from high strength Tatara steel for longer life. Xtreme Torsion Technology is engineered into Makita Impact Gold insert bits to extend their life up to 10 times longer than standard insert bits. The precision fit eliminates "cam-out" and stripping.

Answer:
Hi 4426, these drive bits are just made harder. They were designed for driving into tough materials. However you can use them in a drill or an impact driver. These driving bits are made harder and tougher than regular drive bits. So go out and get some of these and know they will do the job.

Yes, you will need to pull off the sleeve, which comes off fairly easily with a good pull. The bits are magnetic, so you will need to pull to get them out, and if you can't, just use pliers.

Answer:
Yes, you have to remove the teal plastic sleeve. This is because it contains the magnet that his the screws so strongly. Takes a little while to get used to, but we'll worth it to hold the screws so well. That sleeve is also designed to help keep from over tightening screws and snapping screws and bits.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 45 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth it. I planned on buying these a while ago and I seen them on sale and had to get them. Don't regret it at all. I've been using the same bit since I got the set and the only sign of wear on the tip is the gold wearing off. And it magnet on the tip is so strong you for sure won't lose a screw again. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Makita impact but set They are junk tried to remove the first screw and the bit rounded out don't buy them July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very pleased! This impact bit set is very compact, organized, and easy to carry! It's small enough to slip into a pocket while working. The magnetic insert is very strong and holds the bits and the screws that you are driving, very securely! A must have toolbox item! April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tool excedes all expectations It worked well driving a 3 inch long screws into studs. I have never driven a screw that size that easily before. You don't feel the torque as the screw goes in as much as other bit sets. The magnet really holds the screw on the tip. The tip appears to be too deep into the holder but is not as the magnetic holder can be pushed back to show full engagement of the screw on the bit. I had to remove the blue magnet sleeve to remove the bit, but this is not difficult. Slide blue magnetic sleeve toward the bit and it come off with some resistance. March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Handy little set The gold plating came off pretty quick. They appear to be better than some of the house brand bits I normally use. I really like how the entire piece fits easily in my side pockets. I will say the extra strong magnet in the clip makes a difference with larger and heavier fasteners. March 2, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Specialty bits The kit was handy when I got started taking apart my project. Used several of the bits, but for quicker production I recommend the longer bits. These bits are very short and can be hard to keep track of when dropping and changing bits. March 15, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bit insert bent The bit holder doesn't handle much abuse; I used it with my cordless hammer driver and it bent pretty quickly. However the impact gold bits are amazingly durable. I purchased an extra pack of phillips bits and have been using the lot still for about 2 years now. February 26, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Wasn't quite what I expected, but it does the job. This was a really good buy for the price, but a bit misleading. The actual bit tips are not magnetic unless you use the provided blue sleeve. The sleeve also only exposes part of the tip, so you sometimes have issues in tight spaces. It also does not come with any flat head tips, which is a major downside. July 1, 2014
