Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simple but brilliant Most important first. This saw will accept the thickest jigsaw blades. Makita and Festool make blades in excess of 4" long but they're thicker than most. But if you have a saw that will accept one of those blades you can cut a 4x4 post accurately. This saw is $99. A Festool is $$$. Wish I had known this stuff when building my back yard fence. Would have been much preferable to using a cordless reciprocating with no foot. I have a much more expensive, highly rated, made in Switzerland, jigsaw that does not work nearly as well as this saw. In fact, it's about to find another home. For two reasons. The toolless push in, rotary pop-out blade holders are almost guaranteed to hold a thin jigsaw blade at an angle instead of aligned with the saw. The slot is wider than the blade and the fancy rotary retainer doesn't change that when it locks in place, so the blade will be aligned properly only if you use the thickest possible blade that will fit. This Makita will hold any blade properly. Also, saws that have the bevel lock lever almost always move a few degrees away from the desired setting as a result of lever engagement. Unless, of course, you have three hands; one to hold the saw, one to hold the foot and one to close the lever. Buy this saw. Don't whine about the Allen key. Cut straight and be happy! Discovering this saw made my month. February 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good saw for handyman. This little beauty is not very fancy, in fact it has no bells & whistles at all but it just cuts beautifully. The saw is dead smooth and following a pencil line is a breeze because a blower clears the line so you can see it and the saw remains rock steady. I have a 5" Makita angle grinder that I bought 35 years ago. I don't use it every day but three or four times a year when I do need it, it's always there. I expect the same for my new jigsaw. I could have bought a more powerful & expensive Makita or Bosch, but this saw is really light and so easy to handle. Very Happy Marcus November 23, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by smooth My circular saw bit it just as I was starting in on some new stairs for the deck. Had to rely on this little guy for the entire job. Light and smooth this saw is a pleasure to use. Very happy with this purchase. September 4, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by love it I purchased this product to make a cat door to the laundry room. I love it. I'm a pretty small lady, so this little saw was easy to handle. The guy who helped me at Home Depot was great. I've used this saw to fix my beat up coffee table and end table. Great saw. February 27, 2007
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice and light This saw is great for someone who would use a jigsaw for around the house occasionally. Very light (4 lbs). Has multiple settins for cutting different things. I bought mine to cut up plywood and it did the job nicely. September 5, 2009
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great little jigsaw light, reliable, easy blade change and adjustments-gets the job done even if its not as fancy as the other brands. December 15, 2007
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great little jigsaw This little jigsaw is great. Not as fancy as some of the others but does the job at a quarter of the weight. March 10, 2007
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice Saw This Jig Saw is a replacement for an old B&D. After looking at various entry level priced jig saws, I settled on this Makita. I am very pleased with this unit. It is nothing fancy but seems to do everything I need and does it very well. It appears to have the Makita tool quality and is well made. Compared to a new B&D it may not have as high of rated amps but that does not seem to be an issue with the things I have cut so far. It is heavy enough to be substantial (4.2lbs) but not a brick I would imagine others are at 5+ pounds. I did not want/need a quick change blade holder as others have noted of those types tend to work loose and may not hold the blades securely. The supplied allen wrench works fine and is not a big hassle to change blades. The adjustable front to back shoe/foot is a nice feature for getting flush front cuts. The stability of attachment for angled or 90 degree cutting appears to be more secure with less chance for slipping. I have operated other saws with an quick adjust foot but they seemed to not be able to stay securely in place. Overall it is a great jig saw and worth the price ($69)! Limited features is not a con in my opinion. March 15, 2014
