Used these ties to install insulation around my main metal duct under the house (crawl space). Also used liquid nail and HVAC tape. These zip ties had to be combined to traverse the duct and hold the styrafoam insulation but they were like having a second set of hands. Once they were tight, the HVAC tape sealed all of the holes. Consulted an HVAC professional on this manner of installing the insulation.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by pmikejunot Good quality collare ties
I had no negative issues with these collar ties. They were strong, with no breakage when tightening around collars of different diameter. I would buy these again from Home Depot.

I recently used these large zip ties to secure some new 8" furnace ducts and move some old ones. For the ones I moved I had installed them using these same ties three years ago and they showed no sign of wear and were still securely fastened. These plastic ties are easy to wrap around the duct and secure.
They make a special tensioner tool, but it can be done without it. The trick is to use channel locks to pull the end and pry against plyers or other tool loosely holding the zip end. The tie is tight enough when it can no longer slide around the duct. Then wrap in code compliant duct tape, about twice the price of normal duct tape, but worth the price since it will remain secured to the duct for many years, while normal duct tape will fall off.

I love, love, love zip ties. At the moment these are holding my fence together until the fence man can come and repair it properly.
