I purchased a Malibu LED Solar Spotlight to uplight a tree and found myself impressed by its performance. I would recommend this product without reservation.
This solar spotlight does a wonderful job uplighting a recently planted ~10' tree in my backyard with a warm white light (3000k) rather than the bright/bluish white light (5000k) provided by so many other solar lights. While not as bright as a non-solar spotlight, it is brighter than most other solar lights currently available. The base of my tree's canopy is ~6' and it is bright enough to adequately uplight the tree. The ability to mount the solar panel on a separate stake allowed the panel to be optimally positioned. My amateur cell phone photos of the light in action cannot capture its outstanding performance.
The heft and quality of the light is impressive, but the stem it stands upon is lightweight aluminium and a bit longer than I believe is necessary, which makes the light a little top heavy. I considered cutting the stem down a bit, but ultimately did not. I also have concerns about the longevity of the plastic stakes that anchor the light and solar panel into the ground and plastic connectors that attach the light and solar panel to their stems. Time will tell how everything holds up to the elements.
I also purchased several Malibu LED Solar Wall Wash lights and found myself equally impressed by their performance.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by louieb Nice, bright, warm light. So far so good.
I've had this unit for a couple of months now, what it is like after a year remains to be seen, but so far so good.
It has a large solar panel, which is detachable from the unit, and I elected to do that so I could move it around. It has not one, but two batteries, thus the large solar panel. It needs a good charge if you want dawn to dusk operation, but I don't really care. On cloudy days in Florida you might get three hours out of it, but on sunny ones you will go well into the wee hours of the morning.
It seems sturdy, and survives our torrential rains and the sprinkler system. I observe no issues with it.
I agree with another review that states that you might prefer the "wall wash" version of this, and that might be the one I get next.
Otherwise, a nice, warm, bright, sturdy unit, that lights up a palm tree and some other foliage in our garden bed.

This Malibu spotlight was honestly the most expense one at the store. I decided to get it because I recently purchased a set of Malibu solar lights for my front yard and was very impressed with them. I have a quadruple stem pygmy date palm in a raised flowerbed in a corner of my back yard. The previous spot lights were nice but only lasted four hours at best (even on very sunny days).
This Malibu spotlight is nearly all metal construction which is a must in South Texas. The solar panel is large and this one spotlight runs off two batteries. The finish is very nice and goes well with our backyard dining set and fire pit set. I originally considered getting two because I like the effect you get with light from both sides. For now, this one spotlight is more than enough. Our backyard faces the east. In that latter part of the day our two-story home shades the backyard. Despite that, this spotlight has been still on at 4 a.m. (which is the latest time I've been up).
With other spotlights costing far less, it might be hard to justify get this one but to me the quality and performance is far superior and very much worth the price.

I have always been hesitant to buy Solar lights but these are awesome. Only took 5 minutes to install and the result looks great. Very bright light and they last.

I see why this one is $49. Just pick it up and you will know. Very solid metal. It makes the plastic ones look cheap and flimsy. And it is very bright at night. Very impressed. Hope they last.

I didn't want to spend a fortune running a low voltage cable through my yard to light up the front of my circular driveway with tall cypress trees, so I decided to try a solar operated spotlight. This unit works so well I went back and purchased several more.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by camnoreal Great light, but cheap design-flawed plastic stakes
After buying and returning 3 similar lights from Lowe's (each which simply failed to work at all), I hesitantly bought this Malibu model. The light itself works great, is very bright and warm even though it's LED. Problem is that the stakes are all very cheap plastic (Lowe's at least had metal stakes) and what's totally perplexing is that there are 3 different diameter plugs for the stakes. Long story short: You must use at least one tube between the stake and the light. I wanted my light very low on the ground, so I pulled out the plug in the light--and one of the pieces immediately broke. No problem, because I wanted to push the stake directly into the light's tube--but it's too large. Okay, let's try the other stake meant to hold the solar panel separately--but that one's too small. Okay, let me just go back to using one tube--but since I broke one of the four tabs, now I can't even use that because it no longer fits snugly in.
So, I need to go back to Home Depot, exchange it, and then pound the stake WAY into the ground. Of course, if it ever needs to get removed, I'm sure upon pulling it out, the stake will remain buried deep in the ground.
