Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ThermalHunter09 The Malibu 8100-0300-01 300 watt transformer was not one of my best purchases from HD!
The transformer was very noisy and it failed in the on position after 5 years. Not sure on the value since it was very noisy for all of the 5 years of service.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by jc Malibu not built to last!
My yard lights were flashing on & off like it was Christmas. I thought it was a bad photocell but after troubleshooting found that the transformer was failing after a year and a half. This was my third failed Malibu transformer and after reading the reviews I now realize it was due to poor quality and not electrical surges or weather.

I have owned two of these and they last just long enough to be out of warranty then they go bad. I am going to purchase a different brand this time and see if I have better results.

Quit right after the warranty ended. Also their toll free number on the instructions was disconnected and their direct web address no longer appears to work.

Need one of these every 2 years. At $69 why not buy as easy install (most are) fits my location. Going today for my 3rd..Am I stupid?? Fits the spot for it and takes 15 min to cut off plug and wire into my box inchs away.

Right out of the box. Timer setting buttons wouldn't work at all. Tried returning to Home Depot (it was over 30 days)- no luck. Malibu doesn't even have a website anymore. Does that tell you something???

I bought the unit from HD in March of 2015. It died yesterday, a couple of weeks after the warranty expired.
